Davao’s Mechanical Engineers are the City’s Pride

PSME stands for The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers. It was founded by Tobias P. Marcelo in 1952 with the ambition of joining together the mechanical engineers in the chase of advancement in professional growth and in the elevation of the profession as a whole.

On October 25-28 , 2011 was the 59th Annual National Convention of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) held at the Philippine Columbian Association Seminar Hall in Paco, Manila. The thriving four days of consecutive of events was attended by more than 2,000 national delegates, the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Davao chapter governed the 59th Annual National Convention events by frolicking off with eight noteworthy grants and getting the fabulous title in Sayaw Inhenyero 2011.

The greatest national recognition, that to be named a PSME Fellow for 2011, was handed to Engr. Avelino Angayan of the Ulticon Builders Incorporated. In addition, recognized for The Outstanding Mechanical Engineers (TOME) were Engr. Roger A. Cerbo of Holcim Phils for manufacturing category, Engr. Alan E. Rufila of Asiseals Corp. for Service to Community and Country category, and Engr. Romeo Eduardo E. Javellana of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) for Education category.

Carlos Gonzalez of Davao, the founder of Ulticon working closely with his brother, Engr. Raul Gonzalez, definitely understands the lack and the needs of our engineers to elevate more in their field of expertise. For Ulticon, a believer of the advocacy of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Davao, it is important to support the society’s campaign in providing for what is necessary for our engineers to continuously enhance their skills and keep them well-equipped with the current development in the field of engineering.
