Ulticon Helps Build Lumad Bakery

Ulticon Builders Incorporated, a Quadruple A General Contractor in the Philippines, led by the President Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Davao City, shares a parallel mission with our Philippine Government to aid our fellow indigenous brothers and sisters who are in desperate need of our full service. A vision of Ulticon that is fit for the 21st century and provides a practical way to deliver vigorous rights, respectable jobs, and livelihoods with a strong unity at heart is one worth advocating for.

The indigenous people of Minalwang, Claveria – a town in Misamis Oriental – have undergone a special technical education and skill training for their livelihoods from both non-government and government organizations, initiated by the 58th Philippine Military Infantry Battalion. On December 07, Friday – twenty-five lumads (IPs) who had finished their baking training received their tool kits for baking. Among those who also benefited from the program were the wives of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) stationed in the said village.

Apart from the tool kits given to the beneficiaries, they also received an allowance for the duration of the training and National Certificate II for their skills acquired. Furthermore, the military said, “The skills they learned and acquired through the training will open a new window for several job opportunities that will help them uplift their economic living within a poverty-stricken community.”

A common trait of the Filipino is to spontaneously extend its generous helping hand to whoever is in need; and indeed, this has opened up new horizons and windows and of opportunities for the lumads of Minalwang. Ulticon, with the help of other organizations including our Philippine Government, has decided to construct a building for the indigenous people to have their own bakeshop that is set to finish on the 2nd of February 2020.

Thus, the project was also made possible through the cooperation of various stakeholders from Ulticon Builders Incorporated, Technical Education Skills Development Authority (Tesda), Global Polytechnic Institute, Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), LGU of Claveria and Minalwang Hindangon Tribal Cooperative.

Ulticon embraces these kinds of projects to help uplift our nation together as one. According to 58 Infantry Battalion commander Roy Anthony Derilo, “I am happy that the IP community of Barangay Minalwang seeks to develop their lives by taking this livelihood and entrepreneurship. The NPA were just full of empty promises and lies to organize their community but it is our government that will really help the community and bring them peace and development which they long seek to enjoy.”
