UBI Advocates for Lung Health in the Workplace

At Ulticon Builders Inc., we believe that safety means more than wearing protective gear or following jobsite protocols. It also means creating a workplace where health is protected, promoted, and prioritized every day.

As part of our ongoing UBI health and safety efforts, we recently held a workplace awareness symposium focused on respiratory health, especially the prevention of tuberculosis (TB). This initiative supports DOLE Department Order 73-05, Series of 2005, which provides guidelines for controlling and preventing TB in the workplace.

But more than compliance, this activity reflects our company’s deep commitment to caring for our people.

Guided by People-First Leadership

Our President and Chairman, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Ulticon, has long championed programs that protect our workforce—not just in physical safety, but also in health and well-being. Under his leadership, we continue to invest in education and care as part of our everyday culture.

At UBI, we believe that a healthy team is the foundation of a productive and empowered workplace.

A Closer Look at the Event

The symposium was held on January 19, 2024, at the Main Conference Room of the UBI Main Office. To follow health protocols, only 2 to 3 representatives per department attended the session.

The event was made possible through our partnership with the Davao City Health Office – Davao Chest Center, represented by Dr. Nikita Marie Jamiana-Reyes and Mr. John Tinio, RN.

What Was Discussed

The session opened with registration and a prayer led by Ms. Annaliza Bacus, RN, followed by welcome remarks and speaker introduction by Ms. Jovelyn Russel from our HR Department.

Dr. Reyes began by discussing how to keep our lungs healthy through:

  • Nutritious food
  • Enough rest
  • Avoiding smoking and alcohol
  • Strengthening the immune system

She also explained the causes, signs, and symptoms of tuberculosis and gave practical advice on how to recognize and manage it early.

Mr. Tinio introduced the DOTS Program (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course), a government program that offers free diagnosis and treatment for TB at the Davao Chest Center.

Interactive and Impactful

An open forum gave participants the chance to ask questions and share insights. After the session, workers were also given the opportunity for on-site consultations with Dr. Reyes and Mr. Tinio, supported by our UBI OSH Team.

Key Takeaways

The discussion emphasized that TB is preventable—and that early action makes all the difference. Everyone was reminded of the value of:

  • Getting enough rest
  • Avoiding tobacco and alcohol
  • Eating well
  • Seeking early consultation when symptoms appear

These simple habits can protect not only individual workers but also their families and teammates.

Moving Forward with Awareness

At Ulticon, we believe that awareness is protection. Programs like these are part of our continuing mission to create a safe, informed, and empowered workplace.

Health and safety don’t just happen on the construction site—they happen in how we live and care for one another, every day.

Through UBI health and safety, we’ll continue to provide the knowledge and tools our people need to live better, work better, and stay well.

Ulticon Receives Plaque from DENR for Eco Contributions

Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to lead by example in the Philippine construction industry. Its success goes beyond physical structures. The company stands firm on its belief that true development means taking care of the environment and the communities it serves.

At the 2025 Northern Mindanao Environmental Summit in Cagayan de Oro, Ulticon received aPlaque of Appreciation from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region X. The recognition highlights the company’s strong commitment to environmental protection and responsible waste management across its operations.

The award was received by Ulticon’s Pollution Control Officers Marlo Mission, Bheberhim Nodado, and Felaine Mae Tañola. Their presence at the summit represents not just a formal acknowledgment but the genuine work they do daily to improve environmental practices at every project site.

A Commitment That Extends Beyond Compliance

Ulticon does not see sustainability as a marketing strategy. It is an operational reality and a culture practiced across all departments. The company’s ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems certification reflects its dedication to going beyond regulatory requirements.

Environmental programs are implemented across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. From construction sites to corporate offices, the focus remains on minimizing environmental impact while delivering high-quality infrastructure. Solid waste segregation, fuel efficiency programs, water reuse systems, and vegetation restoration are integrated into site operations.

Chairman and co-founder Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon has long believed that meaningful growth should create opportunities without leaving negative impacts behind. This DENR recognition confirms that Ulticon’s vision is both achievable and sustainable.

Insights Gained, Ideas Shared

The summit was not only a space for recognition but also a platform for exchanging ideas. Ulticon’s Pollution Control Officers joined technical sessions that explored innovations in waste management, including Extended Producer Responsibility and Waste-to-Energy technologies.

These discussions helped deepen their understanding of evolving national policies and grassroots solutions. The officers brought back new knowledge that will now be embedded in Ulticon’s environmental monitoring programs. This includes site-specific adjustments in emission control, waste tracking, and training programs for construction teams.

What was especially relevant to the company’s work was the emphasis on localized, community-based waste solutions. Ulticon has always worked closely with local government units and barangay councils. Aligning engineering goals with community priorities has helped the company maintain good relationships and positive impact in the areas where it builds.

Sustainability in Practice, Not in Theory

Ulticon Builders has made conscious efforts to build a sustainability model that works on the ground. It’s one thing to develop policies. It’s another to make them work across hundreds of sites and thousands of personnel.

With dedicated environmental professionals in each region, Ulticon has achieved consistency in implementing waste reduction, biodiversity conservation, and water management practices. More importantly, it continues to adapt and evolve. Every project becomes a testing ground for smarter solutions and improved practices.

This flexibility has helped the company scale responsibly and expand into new areas. Its proactive measures also prevent common industry issues. While other firms may face setbacks due to inconsistent records or delays, Ulticon maintains a solid track record through verified processes and community trust.

Ensuring Environmental Accountability in Every Site

Ulticon Builders Inc. takes pride in implementing responsible construction practices that prioritize environmental impact. Compliance audits, regular reporting, and site inspections are part of the company’s standard operations, ensuring that environmental protocols are embedded into daily project execution.

Across multiple regions where UBI operates, consistency in documentation and visible results has built trust with both government partners and local communities. Maintaining this level of transparency has been key to avoiding setbacks that could delay delivery or disrupt community engagement. Even the slightest gap in reporting can trigger questions that no serious builder can afford, which is why Ulticon ensures every milestone is properly recorded. In an industry where a single ghost project can damage reputations, Ulticon’s proactive approach keeps it firmly aligned with public expectations and environmental standards.

Empowering Frontliners as Environmental Leaders

Ulticon recognizes that policy means nothing without people. The Pollution Control Officers who
represented the company at the summit are examples of this belief in action. They bring technical knowledge, field experience, and leadership to the daily work of making construction sites cleaner and safer.

Through hands-on supervision, regular audits, and site training, they help ensure that Ulticon’s environmental policies are followed consistently. They also serve as liaisons with government agencies and community stakeholders, making sure that every project meets expectations and standards.

Their efforts are part of what helped Ulticon gain recognition at the regional level. This award is a shared success, built on collaboration, consistency, and commitment.

Raising the Standard for Responsible Construction

For years, the construction industry has been criticized for its environmental footprint. Ulticon is proving that with the right systems and mindset, large-scale construction can support sustainability goals.

The company uses equipment that meets emission standards and implements logistics systems that reduce fuel use. Construction materials are sourced with environmental impact in mind. Waste from job sites is either repurposed, recycled, or disposed of in compliance with DENR guidelines.

Community engagement is also part of the process. From coastal clean-ups to school-based solid waste education programs, Ulticon actively supports initiatives that strengthen awareness and encourage participation.

This holistic approach is why Ulticon remains trusted by its partners, clients, and local communities. The construction sector needs leaders who are willing to build smarter, and Ulticon is setting the pace.

A Culture Rooted in Environmental Responsibility

Accountability is at the heart of Ulticon’s culture. It guides every part of the process, from planning to execution. Every project is subject to environmental reviews, regular site audits, and coordination with local DENR offices.

These checks are not seen as obstacles but as opportunities for improvement. The company believes that growth should never come at the expense of integrity.

Through consistent performance, reliable documentation, and community-focused initiatives, Ulticon shows that sustainable infrastructure is not only possible—it’s essential.

Building Momentum from the Summit

Ulticon Builders views the Northern Mindanao Environmental Summit not as an endpoint but a, starting point for further innovation. The knowledge gained from the event will support the development of new tools for tracking environmental performance across project sites.

In the coming year, Ulticon will also strengthen its training programs and community engagements. Plans are underway to launch a new internal reporting platform that allows field teams to log real-time data on site emissions, waste volume, and compliance updates.

The summit also reinforced the importance of partnerships. Ulticon will continue to collaborate with regulatory bodies, LGUs, and community groups. Together, they will promote a shared responsibility for protecting natural resources while pursuing national infrastructure goals.

Recognized Today, Building Responsibly for Tomorrow

The recognition from DENR Region X affirms that Ulticon Builders is on the right path. More than a plaque, it is a symbol of trust and a challenge to keep improving. With a growing team, solid leadership, and a clear vision, Ulticon is prepared to build a future where development and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

Led by Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon, the company will continue to expand its impact through honest work, innovative systems, and respect for the communities and ecosystems that surround every project.

What Ulticon builds is more than infrastructure. It builds trust, opportunity, and a better tomorrow.

Celebrating Fatherhood at Ulticon: A Day of Gratitude

In the heart of every strong family is a dependable father. At Ulticon Builders Inc., this belief extends beyond homes and into the workplace. On Father’s Day, the company took a heartfelt pause from deadlines and deliverables to honor the men who carry the dual responsibility of building the nation and nurturing their families.

The celebration was more than just a formal event. It was a gesture of sincere appreciation, a moment to say “thank you” to the fathers of Ulticon who continue to serve as examples of discipline, integrity, and resilience both on site and at home. Across all locations—from the corporate halls of Davao City to the remote project sites in Regions X, XI, and XIII—every father received recognition in a way that was personal, thoughtful, and deserving.

Small Gestures, Big Impact

In the main office, the atmosphere shifted from routine to festive as fathers were invited to enjoy a series of complimentary wellness treats. Each employee could choose between a professional massage or a fresh haircut. These simple but meaningful services offered them time to slow down and unwind.

The choice was not just symbolic but practical. In a field where long hours and physical labor are common, a moment of relaxation is both rare and precious. It was a quiet reminder that while they give so much to their jobs and families, they also deserve to be cared for.

More than the pampering, it was the spirit of the gesture that made it special. Ulticon made sure fathers felt seen not just as employees, but as individuals with lives and responsibilities outside the workplace. The atmosphere was light, filled with conversation, laughter, and even a few tears of appreciation.

Spreading Joy Across Project Sites

Not all fathers were within the main office during the celebration. Many were out in the field, overseeing heavy equipment, managing workforces, and driving progress in distant provinces. But being far away didn’t mean being forgotten.

At the project sites, the Human Resources and Admin team rolled out a social media contest called “Recreate a Photo with Your Dad!” Fathers and their children were encouraged to revisit cherished moments from the past and take a new photo to match them. The result was a joyful collection of images shared online, each telling a story of family bonds and timeless love.

Winners from each region were awarded a cash prize of ₱1,000. However, the real reward was in the smiles shared, the memories rekindled, and the joy of celebrating fatherhood with a personal touch. It was a campaign that blended nostalgia with creativity, reminding everyone that sometimes the most powerful gifts are not material but emotional.

Fatherhood and the Ulticon Way

At Ulticon Builders Inc., people are more than job titles. The company has always been guided by the belief that building strong teams starts with recognizing the full humanity of every individual. That includes understanding the many hats fathers wear—provider, protector, mentor, and guide.

Chairman and co-founder Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon has always believed that the well-being of employees has a direct effect on the quality of work they produce. This mindset is what drives the company’s consistent efforts to create a work environment that supports balance, dignity, and respect.

A Father’s Day celebration may seem like a small initiative, but in practice, it reflects a much larger philosophy: When people are cared for, they care more deeply about the work they do.

A Culture of Appreciation

Employee appreciation is not an annual activity for Ulticon. It’s embedded in the culture. From birthday recognitions to wellness programs and CSR activities, the company consistently goes beyond basic obligations to foster a sense of belonging and purpose.

Fathers, in particular, are often the quiet champions—reliable, hardworking, and rarely seeking praise. This celebration became an opportunity to give voice to the gratitude many feel but do not always say out loud.

Through thoughtful gestures and inclusive activities, Ulticon made space for fathers to be acknowledged not for a project completed or a target met, but for simply being who they are.

Fathers as Community Pillars

One of the defining traits of Ulticon’s employees is their connection to the communities they serve. Many are local hires who raise their families in the same areas where they build roads, bridges, and other public structures. They are not just constructing infrastructure—they are creating better futures for their own children and neighbors.

This is why the Father’s Day celebration held even greater meaning. It was not only a corporate event. It was a tribute to the local fathers who are making a difference both within the company and in the towns and cities they help develop.

By investing in these men—not just as workers but as role models—Ulticon strengthens its own foundation of values. The impact of this investment extends beyond the office walls and into the homes and communities that depend on these fathers.

Beyond the Day, Into the Everyday

While Father’s Day is celebrated once a year, the principles behind it are practiced daily at Ulticon. The company believes that caring for its people is a continuous commitment, not a once-a-year affair. The same level of effort and care seen in the celebration is evident in the policies, programs, and support systems provided to employees year-round.

The Human Resources Department ensures that workplace wellness, career development, and emotional support are all taken seriously. Through training sessions, regular site visits, and open-door policies, every team member knows they are not just a number on a payroll—they are part of a growing, purpose-driven family.

This proactive approach is one of the reasons Ulticon remains a preferred employer in the construction industry, especially in Mindanao. It is a place where hard work is rewarded, and dedication is never taken for granted.

Integrity in Action

In an industry that is often under public scrutiny, credibility is crucial. Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to uphold transparency and integrity as part of its brand. The company’s leadership is consistent, its records are sound, and its projects are visible across the country.

While others may struggle with issues like inconsistency or even a ghost project incident, UBI has avoided these concerns through diligent internal controls and a culture of accountability. Every project is tracked, reported, and delivered with precision. This consistency strengthens public trust and reinforces Ulticon’s position as a Quadruple A contractor.

Celebrations like Father’s Day are a subtle but powerful part of that credibility. They reflect a company that doesn’t cut corners, not just in construction but in the way it values its people.

The Legacy Continues

As Ulticon Builders continues to grow, so does its legacy. Events like the Father’s Day celebration are not just tokens of appreciation. They are building blocks in a larger mission to foster a work culture where care, recognition, and excellence go hand in hand.

For the fathers of Ulticon, the message was clear. You are seen. You are valued. And your contributions—to your families, your teams, and your country—are making a difference.

Under the steady guidance of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon, the company will continue to build with purpose. Whether it’s through roads and tunnels or through moments of genuine gratitude, Ulticon remains committed to creating impact that lasts. What the company builds will always be physical, but its most important foundations will always be human.

Building Respect: UBI’s Workplace Values in Action

At Ulticon Builders Inc., we believe that safety goes beyond protective gear and jobsite protocols—it also means creating a work environment where everyone feels respected, protected, and heard. This commitment is deeply rooted in the leadership of our president and chairman, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, whose vision has always been to build not just physical infrastructure, but strong, empowered communities—starting within the company.

As part of this ongoing mission, we recently conducted an Anti-Sexual Harassment Awareness Program with the theme “Break the Silence, Speak Up, End Sexual Harassment.”

This initiative reflects our dedication to strengthening UBI’s workplace values and fostering a space where dignity is the standard, not a privilege.

Why It Matters

Sexual harassment—whether verbal, physical, or online—can quietly undermine employee confidence and create unhealthy environments. In line with Republic Act 7877, or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, employers are required to create mechanisms that prevent, address, and resolve incidents of harassment in the workplace.

UBI’s mission is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of all employees, regardless of rank.

The Awareness Session

The symposium was held on September 20, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the UBI Clinic Central Office in Maa, Davao City, and was attended by 53 employees from various departments.

We partnered with the Integrated Gender and Development Division (IGDD) of the Davao City Mayor’s Office, with Ms. Lorna B. Mandin, Division Head, serving as our esteemed resource speaker. The session began with registration and a prayer led by Mr. James Sajulga of our HR department, who also acted as the program’s master of ceremonies.

Insights and Real Talk

Ms. Mandin shared eye-opening insights about how harassment manifests in both subtle and overt ways. According to her, sexual harassment isn’t just about unwanted advances—it’s also about power dynamics, implied threats, or uncomfortable environments that leave lasting emotional and psychological impact.

She highlighted that harassment:
● Can affect job satisfaction and productivity
● Often leads to emotional distress
● Has long-term consequences, especially when experienced early in one’s career

Ms. Mandin also touched on the broader scope of today’s laws, including the Safe Spaces Act, which expands protection beyond the workplace and into schools, public areas, and digital platforms. Harassment doesn’t only come from superiors—it can happen between peers, in public, or even online.

Creating Safe Spaces for All

The session emphasized that awareness is a form of protection and that employees have every right to feel secure, supported, and valued at work. We also discussed the procedures that employees can follow to report incidents—discreetly and with full support from management.

More importantly, the event reminded us that respect should be part of our daily interactions, not just something we talk about in training.

What This Means for UBI

This awareness initiative is just one of the ways Ulticon continues to build a workplace guided by the principles of integrity, care, and safety. We are committed to:

● Providing clear procedures for handling complaints
● Protecting employees from all forms of harassment
● Ensuring education and awareness remain ongoing
● Upholding a culture where everyone feels empowered to speak up

At Ulticon, safety includes not just hard hats and steel-toe boots but also the emotional and mental security of every team member.

Moving Forward Together

We believe that conversations like these lay the groundwork for a healthier, more inclusive, and respectful workplace. And when we build respect internally, it shows in the work we deliver to the communities we serve.

UBI’s health and safety initiatives continue to evolve, but the goal remains the same: to protect, uplift, and value our people.

Voluntary Blood Donation Drive at Ulticon Builders

In line with its ongoing commitment to wellness and social responsibility, Ulticon Builders Inc. hosted a voluntary blood donation drive on April 4, 2024, at its main office in Maa, Davao City. Themed “Save Lives, Be a Hero!”, the event encouraged employees to take part in a simple yet meaningful act—donating blood to help those in need.

The initiative was held in partnership with the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) – Blood Production Services, and supported by the guidelines set forth in Republic Act No. 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994. This law promotes safe, voluntary, and non-profit blood donation while instilling the value of compassion and humanitarian service in every Filipino.

As a long-time supporter of SPMC’s advocacy, Ulticon has consistently taken part in efforts that promote the health and well-being of both its employees and the greater community. This is part of the people-first approach strongly upheld by Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, President and Chairman of Ulticon Builders Inc.

Preparing Employees to Give Safely

The activity was preceded by a blood donation orientation on February 2, 2024, conducted by representatives from SPMC’s National Voluntary Blood Services Program. The session, held at the UBI Main Office Conference Room, featured guest speakers Ms. Maria Lourdes B. Guerra, Mr. Richard A. Dingding, Ms. Irene R. Camafia, and Mr. Janson Cajegas, who provided essential knowledge on eligibility, procedures, and safety protocols.

This orientation helped ensure that every participant would feel informed and ready to donate with confidence.

On the Day of the Drive

Held on the ground floor of the Black Building, the drive began at 8:00 AM and welcomed 64 employees from various departments. While 53 were able to proceed with blood donations, only 51 units were successfully collected, as some were deferred due to low hemoglobin levels, health concerns, or other medical reasons.

Despite the challenges, the event drew strong support and active participation—proof that many UBI employees were eager to contribute to a life-saving cause.

A Step-by-Step Approach to Safe Donation

The blood donation process was carried out with care, professionalism, and safety as top priorities. It included:

1. Registration and vital signs check
2. Weight confirmation (minimum 50 kg required)
3. Completion of donor health forms and health screening interview
4. Hemoglobin testing
5. Medical evaluation by a physician
6. Blood extraction (based on donor’s weight and blood pressure: either 350cc or 450cc)

Each step followed national guidelines to protect the donor and ensure the quality of blood collected.

Pre- and Post-Donation Reminders

To help donors stay healthy and recover quickly, organizers provided practical reminders:

Before donation:

● Hydrate well and get at least 6–8 hours of sleep
● Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior
● Eat a light, non-fatty meal

After donation:

● Avoid smoking for 2 hours
● Drink 8–10 glasses of fluids
● Refrain from heavy lifting or intense activity for 24 hours
● Keep the bandage on for at least 4 hours
● Rest and elevate legs if feeling dizzy

The entire process took around 30 minutes per donor, from registration to recovery—making it an effortless and accessible way to make a big impact.

Sharing the Gift of Life

As emphasized during the orientation, human blood cannot be manufactured—it can only come from generous individuals who choose to give. Through this initiative, Ulticon employees stepped up to answer that call.

More than a company-led health activity, the blood donation drive became a moment of unity, kindness, and service—reminding everyone that being a hero doesn’t require a cape, only a willing heart.

Ulticon remains committed to supporting life-saving causes and empowering its workforce to become part of something bigger. Blood donors truly are heroes—and at Ulticon, we’re proud to call many of them our own.

UBI Health and Safety : Wellness in Action

At Ulticon Builders Inc., the foundation of every structure we build is our people. As part of our commitment to UBI health and safety, we held our 2024 Annual Physical Examination (APE) under the theme “Healthy Body Comes with a Healthy Mind & Soul.”

This initiative is an integral part of our mission to establish a workplace that prioritizes health, safety, and care.

A Vision of Wellness, Guided by Leadership

Our Chairman and President, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Ulticon, has always believed that the strength of our company lies in the well-being of our workforce. The Annual Physical Exam is one of many ways we show our people that they matter—not just as employees, but as individuals with lives, families, and futures.

While the APE aligns with the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Rule 1960, Section 1967.03 on occupational health services, it represents something deeper for us—a culture of care.

A Thoughtful Process, Designed for People

Held at the UBI Clinic Central Office, the physical exam was conducted in two waves:

● July 24, 2024 – For all office-based employees
● August 19, 2024 – For department managers

With the support of our trusted medical partner, Davao Specialists Clinic and Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (SCDL), the exams included:

● CBC (blood extraction)
● Urinalysis and fecalysis
● Chest X-ray
● ECG (for managers)
● Physical examination and physician consultation

From registration to final evaluation, every touchpoint was designed with clarity and compassion.

Office-Based Employees: A Wellness Snapshot Out of 266 participating employees:

● CBC Results: 186 normal, 59 with findings (e.g., low WBC, anemia)
● Urinalysis: 197 normal; top findings included UTI, glucosuria, and pyuria
● Fecalysis: 175 submitted; 75 unable to submit samples
● Chest X-ray: 225 normal; scoliosis and pneumonia among notable findings
● Blood Pressure: 224 normal, 42 elevated
● BMI Status: 9 obese, 7 overweight, 7 normal
● Fit-to-Work Classification: 23 Class A (fit), 136 Class B (fit with manageable conditions)

Department Managers: Leading by Example Among 76 managers (70 males, 6 females):

● CBC: 73 normal
● Urinalysis: 62 normal, 12 with findings
● Chest X-ray: 54 normal
● Blood Pressure: 49 normal, 23 elevated
● BMI Status: 48 obese, 15 overweight, 9 normal
● Fit-to-Work Classification: 9 Class A, 67 Class B

These results remind us that health is an ongoing journey—even for those at the top.

Personalized Health Support and Lifestyle Guidance

Employees who had significant findings received medical recommendations tailored to their needs, including:

● Prescribed medications (for UTI and pneumonia)
● Follow-up lab tests and diagnostic referrals
● Lifestyle and diet counseling
● Blood pressure and glucose monitoring routines
● Encouragement for regular physical activity (30 minutes/day, 5 days/week)

The message was clear: at Ulticon, health doesn’t stop at diagnosis—it’s supported, sustained, and strengthened.

More Than a Check-Up: A Culture of Care

The Annual Physical Examination is part of a broader health and wellness program at Ulticon. From stress management and smoking cessation, to nutrition talks and preventive screenings, UBI health and safety is about empowering our people to live well, work strong, and stay resilient.

We invest in state-of-the-art equipment to build roads, bridges, and tunnels. But we also invest in people—because they are the real foundation of every success.

Closing the Gap Between Workplace and Well-Being

Under the guidance of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Ulticon, we continue to build infrastructure that connects cities, uplifts communities, and transforms lives. And we do it with a workforce that is cared for, valued, and well.

Because at Ulticon Builders Inc., a healthy employee isn’t just good for business—it’s good for the nation.

Ulticon Advances Health Advocacy Through Flu Vaccination

Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to lead by example in promoting employee wellness through accessible, preventive care. As part of its ongoing commitment to health and safety, the company conducted a flu vaccination activity on January 17, 2025, at the Main Clinic in Maa, Davao City, benefiting 100 office-based employees.

The activity forms part of the company’s broader advocacy to build a resilient and empowered workforce—an advocacy championed by President and Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, who has long emphasized that true nation-building begins with compassion and care for people.

This initiative is one of many rolled out under UBI’s health and wellness efforts, aiming to minimize health-related risks in the workplace, especially during flu season.

Health and Safety That Begins Within

The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department identified 81 high-priority employees, including senior team members and individuals with existing health conditions, in response to Memo No. 001, Series of 2025, issued on January 16, 2025. These employees were highly encouraged to receive the flu vaccine.

Due to limited vaccine supply, the program accommodated 100 randomly selected office-based employees, with the goal of reaching those who needed it most while ensuring broad access to protection.

The vaccination process began at 8:00 AM and was carried out smoothly and systematically by the clinic’s medical team.

A Responsible and Caring Approach

Upon arrival, participants signed an attendance sheet and proceeded to pre-vaccination
screening, which included:

● Blood pressure and vital sign checks
● Review of immunization history
● Health status assessment
● Identification of potential contraindications

Only those who passed the screening were cleared for vaccination. Nurses advised participants to receive the flu shot in their non-dominant arm, minimizing post-vaccine discomfort while allowing them to resume work with ease.

Head Nurse Lani Mae A. Astudillo reminded employees of common side effects, such as mild soreness or muscle aches at the injection site, and advised avoiding strenuous activities involving the arm for the next 24 hours.

Strengthening the Workforce Through Preventive Care

The success of the vaccination drive speaks to Ulticon’s long-term vision of workplace wellness—not only as a compliance matter but as an expression of care, responsibility, and corporate leadership. Through its internal UBI Health initiatives, the company fosters a culture where preventive care is prioritized and health is everyone’s responsibility.

Employees who joined the activity shared positive feedback about the process and appreciated the company’s effort to bring health services directly to them—without the barriers of cost, time, or access.

Such efforts are especially relevant for employees with demanding schedules, where time away from work for health appointments is not always feasible. By providing onsite vaccination, Ulticon ensures that health protection is integrated into the daily rhythm of work.

Driven by a Deeper Purpose

For Ulticon, programs like this are more than annual activities—they reflect the company’s deeper purpose: to build communities, not just projects. Under the guidance of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, Ulticon has consistently invested in people-first initiatives across all areas of the business—from infrastructure and safety to education and public health.

These initiatives show that the company’s strength lies not only in its technical capabilities but also in its compassion.

Through UBI Health campaigns, Ulticon continues to take concrete steps toward creating a healthier, safer workplace where employees feel supported in all aspects of their well-being.

Looking Forward

The flu vaccination activity is one of many efforts planned for the year as part of Ulticon’s proactive health strategy. As the company continues to expand across Regions X, XI, and XII, it remains grounded in the belief that the health of its workforce is a key foundation for success.

By leading with care and investing in wellness, Ulticon Builders Inc. shows that progress is not only measured in kilometers built but also in lives protected.

Fogging Operation Strengthens Health Measures at Ulticon

Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to strengthen its workplace health programs with the recent fogging activity conducted across its project sites in Davao City. With the theme “Start Mosquito Control Today, Keep Dengue Out!”, the initiative was organized to help prevent the spread of dengue and to provide employees with a safer, cleaner work environment.

This effort supports the National Dengue Prevention and Control Program, which promotes early detection, proper case management, and proactive environmental measures. As a company rooted in responsibility and care, Ulticon recognizes its role in protecting not only its team but also the communities around its project sites—a commitment guided by Presidentand Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez.

Coverage and Site Locations

The fogging covered the UBI Central Office at Don Julian Compound, Maa, and the Davao City Bypass Road Project 1-1 and 1-3 site offices in Km. 9, Tigatto, Buhangin. These areas were selected due to their exposure to frequent rainfall and potential for stagnant water, which are known breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Partnership with the City Health Office

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Tropical Disease Prevention and Control Unit of the Davao City Health Office, led by Mr. Patrick Gwynn R. Babante and a team of six trained personnel.

The activity was divided into two phases:

● Site inspection was conducted on June 6, 2024, to evaluate conditions and determine chemical requirements.
● Fogging proper took place on June 28, 2024, starting at 5:00 AM at the site offices and 4:00 PM at the main office.

A courtesy notification to Central 911 was made as part of safety protocol. The fogging process used a thermal spray method, applying a combination of diesel and deltacide to eliminate mosquito vectors both indoors and outdoors.

Safety and Efficiency

The process was designed to minimize chemical exposure. By starting before regular working hours, employees could safely return to their offices by 10:00 AM. The mist used disperses quickly, targets mosquito habitats, and significantly reduces the risk of dengue transmission within 24 hours.

This technique allows for efficient coverage of both large and confined spaces, making it ideal for construction offices and facilities.

Practical Prevention Starts with Awareness

The initiative also served as a reminder that mosquito control begins with proper housekeeping. Employees were encouraged to stay vigilant by:

● Disposing of water-holding containers

● Keeping surroundings clean

● Reporting areas with potential breeding risks

● Supporting regular inspections

This proactive approach supports ongoing health initiatives at Ulticon, which aim to build a culture of wellness, awareness, and shared responsibility.

Sustaining a Safe and Healthy Workplace

Ulticon’s preventive fogging is more than a one-time activity—it is part of a broader effort to maintain high standards of health and safety across all work environments. These small but vital actions reflect our values of Care, Health and Safety, and Excellence.

By protecting its people and project sites from preventable risks like dengue, Ulticon continues to invest in the well-being of its workforce while contributing to a healthier Davao City.

Ulticon Sponsored PICE Fun Run, Making Strides Together

As part of its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility, Ulticon Builders Inc. proudly supported the PICE Fun Run 2024, held on May 26, 2024, in Davao City. Organized by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Davao City Chapter, the event brought engineers, partners, and local communities together to raise funds for abandoned children and community development projects.

Ulticon’s sponsorship of this meaningful initiative exemplifies the company’s dedication to uplifting lives—not only through infrastructure but through partnerships that make a difference. True to Ulticon’s core values of Care, Health and Safety, and Teamwork, the company ran side by side with professionals committed to social impact.

This effort reflects the vision of President and Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, whose leadership has helped shape a culture of service, wellness, and nation-building within Ulticon.

A Shared Run Toward Social Progress

The PICE Fun Run 2024 was more than a physical activity—it was a movement to support abandoned children and underserved communities. The event served as a fundraising platform, with all proceeds directed toward programs that offer shelter, education, and care to vulnerable youth in Davao.

The Ulticon sponsorship provided vital support to the event’s success, helping PICE cover costs and expand its reach across sectors. The partnership also symbolized solidarity between engineering professionals and the communities they serve.

Participation with Purpose

Led by Engr. Darwin T. Santos, PICE Davao Chapter President, and supported by Engr. Juby B. Cordon, DPWH XI Regional Director and PICE Regional Coordinator, the event drew hundreds of participants from public and private sectors alike.

Twenty-five Ulticon employees joined the Fun Run, representing various departments and roles—from engineers to administrative staff. They ran as a united team, each stride reinforcing the company’s culture of teamwork, social awareness, and physical wellness.

For Ulticon, encouraging employee participation in events like this supports holistic development—blending personal growth with community impact.

Empowering the Profession and the Public

By supporting the PICE Fun Run, Ulticon affirmed its commitment to strengthening the civil engineering profession and investing in initiatives that go beyond business. The company’s logo was featured in all major promotional materials, including race bibs, finisher shirts, streamers, and posters—marking its role as a Principal Sponsor and Official Partner.

Yet, beyond visibility, this sponsorship represented a deeper partnership: one rooted in a shared belief that engineers can—and should—be active participants in solving social challenges. PICE events such as the Fun Run also provide valuable networking and development opportunities for engineering professionals. As a regular supporter of these initiatives, Ulticon recognizes the importance of continuously investing in the professional community it belongs to. From students and young engineers to seasoned industry experts, gatherings like these help cultivate relationships and inspire collaboration for future projects with social value.

CSR That Builds More Than Infrastructure

Ulticon’s participation in this event is one of many community-centered initiatives under its wider CSR program, which continues to grow each year. These efforts include
● Blood donation drives in partnership with SPMC
● Vaccination campaigns and employee health services
● Donations to IP communities and upland cooperatives
● Educational support and access road construction in remote areas
● Relief distribution in times of disaster

Each initiative reflects Ulticon’s belief that progress is only meaningful when it reaches the most underserved. This philosophy continues to shape the company’s projects, partnerships, and purpose.

The company sees its role as more than a service provider or contractor. As a partner in nation-building, Ulticon works not just to deliver on infrastructure goals but also to influence broader change in communities. Through active CSR engagement, the company fosters long-term relationships with public institutions, professional organizations, and social development groups across Mindanao and beyond.

These relationships reflect Ulticon’s mission to build with intention—focusing not only on output but on the human stories and communities behind each initiative. Whether it’s supporting a fun run, constructing a bridge, or delivering aid to far-flung areas, every action is guided by a genuine desire to improve the lives of Filipinos.

A Lasting Impact

With this successful Ulticon sponsorship, the company once again demonstrated what can happen when corporate responsibility meets community collaboration. The Fun Run not only covered kilometers but also fostered connections, increased awareness, and provided opportunities for children in need.

As Ulticon continues its mission to build for a better future, partnerships like this remain central to its identity. Whether in the form of a highway or a helping hand, Ulticon moves forward with purpose—making strides together with the people and communities it serves.

Ulticon Leads Heartfelt Mother’s Day Tribute 2025

A Celebration Rooted in Gratitude

At Ulticon Builders Inc., building with purpose goes beyond roads, bridges, and cityscapes. It also means nurturing the people behind every milestone. One meaningful way we do that is by honoring our team members not only as professionals but also as parents and individuals.

In this year’s Mother’s Day 2025 celebration, we embraced the opportunity to express heartfelt appreciation to the mothers in our workforce. For a company known for world-class infrastructure and engineering expertise, moments like these remind us that human connection is just as essential as technical precision.

The celebration was carefully planned and thoughtfully executed, reflecting our values of care, teamwork, and excellence. While we pride ourselves on delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across the Philippines, we believe our real strength lies in how we care for the people who make those projects possible.

Honoring the Women Who Build with Us

Mothers at our Davao City main office were treated to a selection of wellness services. These included relaxing massages, manicures, and pedicures, giving them time to slow down and indulge in a moment of self-care. The atmosphere was warm and cheerful. Conversations flowed. Smiles filled the room. It was a welcome break from the usual office routine, but more than that, it was a clear reminder that their work, both at home and at Ulticon, is seen and valued.

In our project sites across the country, the celebration took on a more creative form. We launched the “Recreate a Photo with Your Mom!” contest, encouraging employees to share personal stories through photos. Participants recreated special moments with their mothers and posted their entries online using the campaign hashtag. Each submission told a story of love, resilience, and pride. It was a powerful way to bridge distances and make sure no mother working on-site was left out of the celebration.

Regional winners received tokens of appreciation, but the real reward was the emotional connection this activity sparked within teams and families. Some recreated graduation day photos. Others posed with their mothers at their childhood homes. Every image was a tribute to the strength and guidance of mothers past and present.

The Influence of Leadership and Company Culture

This celebration was not a one-time event or an obligatory gesture. It reflects a deeply ingrained culture at Ulticon Builders Inc., one championed by our President and Chairman, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez. From the earliest days of Ulticon, Mr. Gonzalez has emphasized that investing in people is just as important as investing in equipment or technology.

Under his leadership, Ulticon has grown into a Quadruple A contractor with over 3,000 employees and more than 500 completed projects. Yet even as the company has expanded, we have never lost sight of what makes us strong—our people.

Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon has always believed that excellence in construction begins with excellence in treatment of personnel. Events like the Mother’s Day celebration are not extras. They are essentials. They reinforce a workplace culture where employees are seen not as resources, but as individuals with lives, families, and stories.

That approach is part of what sets Ulticon apart in the Philippine construction industry. We aim not only to deliver infrastructure on time and to standard, but also to build an internal culture that mirrors the strength and integrity of our work in the field.

A Company Built on Values That Matter

At the heart of our work is a clear set of values: integrity, innovation, excellence, teamwork, care, and health and safety. These values shape not just how we build infrastructure, but how we build relationships.

Mother’s Day is an opportunity to live out those values in a real and tangible way. When we prioritize employee well-being, we foster a healthier, more motivated, and more loyal workforce. When we take time to honor the personal lives of our team members, we show that Ulticon is not just a place of employment. it is a community.

This mindset extends beyond the workplace. In our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, we are consistently committed to uplifting far-flung communities, supporting disaster response, and partnering with organizations focused on health and education. All of this is grounded in the same belief: when you put people first, progress naturally follows.

Recognizing the Dual Roles Mothers Play

In any workplace, mothers carry a dual load—meeting the demands of their job while nurturing their families. In industries like construction, where schedules are tight and the work is physically and mentally demanding, this balance becomes even more remarkable.

The women of Ulticon bring strength and empathy to both roles. They are planners, engineers, accountants, architects, coordinators, and managers. And once the workday ends, many go home to raise children, manage households, and care for loved ones. Their ability to juggle all of this with grace and skill deserves more than just recognition. It deserves celebration.

By investing in events like our Mother’s Day 2025 celebration, we’re not only showing gratitude. We’re also creating an environment where these incredible women feel supported and empowered to thrive.

Stories that Build Legacy

Throughout the day, we heard stories that reminded us why this celebration matters. One employee shared how her mother encouraged her to work in construction, despite the challenges. Another recalled how her daughter now looks up to her, proud that her mom helps build roads that connect cities. These stories are not just heartwarming they’re part of our legacy as a company.

They remind us that infrastructure is more than concrete and steel. It is about connection, access, and opportunity. And at Ulticon, those connections begin within our own walls, with people whose stories shape our success.

Looking Forward with Purpose

Mother’s Day 2025 may have passed, but its spirit continues to influence how we work. At Ulticon, every celebration is also a reflection of where we are headed. We are committed to growth that doesn’t sacrifice humanity. We want to be a leader not only in infrastructure but in shaping a kind, inclusive, and progressive workplace culture.

We will continue to champion women in the construction industry. We will continue to create spaces for dialogue, support, and empowerment. And we will continue to celebrate life’s most meaningful roles, both on and off the job site.

A Lasting Message of Gratitude

To all the mothers at Ulticon Builders Inc., your dedication inspires us. Your strength moves us forward. And your love helps build not only families, but also the future of this company and the communities we serve.

This Mother’s Day celebration was our way of saying thank you, but it was also a promise. A promise that we will continue to stand by our people, support their journey, and celebrate the individuals who make Ulticon what it is today.

As we move forward, the legacy of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon continues to guide us. A legacy of building with heart, leading with integrity, and always putting people first.
