ulticon-blood-donation-charlie-gonzales-davao-2Ulticon Builders Incorporated (UBI) with the guidance of Charlie Gonzalez of Davao City collaborates and works together with the Philippine Red Cross in its programs.  This is a joint effort to meet the need for blood by patients requiring blood transfusion or those who are in critical care. At par with this is the effective vision of UBI that it is always ready to help and assist those in need. That is why on November of 2016, employees at UBI willingly participated in the Red Cross Mobile Blood Donation to donate blood which was conducted at the company lobby, in Ma-a Road Davao City.

The purpose of the blood donor recruitment is to increase the national blood requirement, with which The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) conducts regular educational activities to encourage authorized voluntary blood donations from different universities, communities, and companies throughout the country. Strategically, the PRC blood service facilities located throughout the country collects their blood donation that reaches a 50% share of our nation’s blood supply.

But, aside from giving life, the question is what health benefits do you get from donating blood regularly? According to Organic Facts it helps stimulate good blood cell production, reducing risk of cancer, prevents hemochromatosis, healthier individual weight, and maintains a healthier heart and liver.

Ulticon Builders Incorporated’s drive towards helping others is always to build a healthier and brighter future for all Filipinos in many different ways it possibly can, and thanks Philippine Red Cross for the opportunity to do so in this collaborative effort.

Ulticon Builders Inc. Celebrates with Davao del Norte on it’s 50th Founding Anniversary

On May 12, 2017, Gov. Anthony del Rosario spoke before a very excited crowd as he officially commenced the fifty-day countdown for the festivities of the 50th founding anniversary of the Province of Davao del Norte.  The theme is “Bulawanong Paghinumdum ug Bulwanong Panlantaw” which means “Golden Commemoration and Golden Vision”.  The beloved governor described this milestone as “a celebration of the many successes of the Dabaonon people and their bullishness about the future.”

The very warm, colorful, and festive nine-day golden anniversary celebration from June 23 to July 1, 2017 was indeed a well-deserved time of recognition of the hard work and resilience of their citizens and its local government, who, in the last 50 years, have tirelessly been working hand in hand to gain  developmental successes and achievements for everyone in the entire Province of Davao del Norte. Aside from recognizing the many wonderful accomplishments the province now enjoys, its rich Dabaonon culture and their heritage was also highlighted all throughout the event.  At the end of it’s official anniversary day, the entire celebration was capped off with a majestic fireworks display.

Ulticon Builders, Incorporated headed by Carlos “Charlie” S. Gonzalez is honored and delighted to have contributed to this special nine-day celebration as one of the event’s major sponsors or  donors.  Moreover, Ulticon Builders, Incorporated shares the same vision as the people of Davao del Norte to celebrate traditions, to honor heritage, to embrace diversity across all cultures, to be resilient and hard working, and to use creativity and innovation when building a brighter tomorrow, not just for one region, but for the whole of the Philippines.

Happy 50th founding anniversary, Davao del Norte!

Ulticon Builders Helps Typhoon Pablo Victims in COMVAL

Compostela Valley (ComVal) is the 78th province in the country by virtue of Republic Act No. 8470, signed by the former President Fidel V. Ramos on January 30, 1998.  It is located in the Davao Region in Mindanao. Compostela Valley is divided into 2 districts and is composed of 11 towns. The municipality is originally dependent on mining and in Barangay Kingking alone, gold is estimated to be at 10.3 million ounces with copper deposits of 5.4 billion pounds.  However, aside from mining, some of the communities within the area thrive through agricultural means.

The descendants of Compostela Valley (COMVAL) came from different ethnic tribes such as the Mansaka tribe, Mandaya, Manobo, Mangguangan, Dibabawon, Aeta, Kamayo, Davaweño and Kalagan.  They mostly speak in Cebuano as it is the dominant language in Mindanao.

Unfortunately, on December 4, 2012 this beautiful place was left defenseless against Typhoon Bopha, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Pablo.  It was the strongest tropical cyclone to ever hit the Southern Philippine island of Mindanao as of 2012, making a landfall as a Category 5 super typhoon with winds of 175 mph (280 km/h).

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) the death toll reached up to 184 in Compostela Valley alone and the typhoon caused destruction in Mindanao, leaving thousands of families homeless and more than 600 fatalities. The Tropical Cyclone destroyed homes, electricity lines, bridges, roads, etc. Even the road in Andap-Cagan Road which was constructed by Ulticon Builders, Inc. did not escape the wrath of typhoon Pablo.

The damage in agriculture and infrastructure in Compostela Valley province reached at least 4 billion pesos, equivalent to €75 million or $98 million U.S., with the typhoon destroying 70-80% of plantations, which were mostly bananas grown for export.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) sought help from Davao City contractors. Ulticon Builders Incorporated, headed by Carlos “Charlie” S. Gonzalez of Davao, heeded the call and donated in kind a substantial amount of relief goods and GI sheets for the survivors of bagyong Pablo in Compostela Valley.  This simple and kind donation by Ulticon touched the lives of our countrymen who were in need and certainly has gone a long way in helping them rebuild what was lost and destroyed by Typhoon Pablo.

Ulticon Builders: Davao Oriental Outreach

On December 04, 2012, a category 5 storm made landfall in Davao Oriental. Known in the Philippines as Bagyong Pablo, the most powerful tropical cyclone to ever strike the Southern Philippine island of Mindanao in that year had  winds of 280 km/h (175 mph). Many of the towns in Davao Oriental were located in coastal areas, and were badly affected. Patrick Ronolo, a college student, was one of the survivors who experienced the wrath of the typhoon. “Scary- kusog kaayo ang hangin. (The wind was so strong).”, Ronolo shared.

The persistent torrential rains which lasted for days and strong winds that came with it caused landslides, destroyed homes and claimed lives.  It was a very traumatizing event for everyone and no amount of words can describe what the people of Davao Oriental went through.  As news of the devastation flooded the media, our kababayan from different provinces and regions of the country decided to help the victims.

Ulticon Builders Inc., joined the efforts in helping our distressed fellowmen. Ulticon humbly donated two trucks of relief goods and hundreds of rolls of vinyl banners (trapal).  These were then used for the houses that were left without roofs by Pablo’s strong winds.  In addition, Ulticon also deployed trucks to Davao Oriental for a whole month to aid in the distribution of relief goods.
Ulticon’s donation of relief goods and materials to victims of typhoon Pablo is only one of the ways by which it has shown its commitment to live by its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Aside from alleviating the lives of people in different rural communities through its Farm-to-Market Roads or FMR’s, Ulticon makes it a point to stand by our fellow Filipinos in desperate times when a helping hand is what they need the most.

The Contributions of Ulticon Builders Inc. in Nation Building

With over two decades of dedicated service and passion in the construction industry, Ulticon Builders Incorporated, headed by Carlos Gonzalez of Davao City, has made its way in being one of the most reliable contractor companies in the country. Ulticon Builders has been a trusted contractor for government projects with its practice of conscientious preparation and skillful implementation.

Ulticon has played a great role in assuring that places in the country will be made more accessible. Hand in hand with the government, it has helped in construction, repair and rehabilitation of roads, highways and bridge projects.

One of Ulticon’s more significant projects is the Cateel-Compostela diversion road construction in Davao Oriental. The 37-kilometer road project was completed by building two semi-permanent bailey bridges. This innovative solution has remarkably shortened the travel time from Davao City to Cateel, Davao Oriental by three hours.

Ulticon Builders has also created farm to market roads which have improved the lives of the filipinos in those areas. Ulticon’s first farm to market project was the Rehabilitation of Sangay – Simbalan Road in Agusan del Norte. Since then, Ulticon has been one of the top contractor companies to have built new farm to market roads and repaired or upgraded existing ones.

Currently, Ulticon is in the process of repairing and rehabilitating the circumferential road in Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS). The construction of Kapalong-Talaingod-Valencia-Bukidnon road is also ongoing in the provinces of Davao Del Norte and Valencia City, Bukidnon. The completion of these projects will add to the numbers of high quality infrastructures Ulticon has successfully built. These projects will undoubtedly help improve Filipinos’ lives in these areas where accessibility will, in the very near future, become a long gone predicament.
