Building Respect: UBI’s Workplace Values in Action

At Ulticon Builders Inc., we believe that safety goes beyond protective gear and jobsite protocols—it also means creating a work environment where everyone feels respected, protected, and heard. This commitment is deeply rooted in the leadership of our president and chairman, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, whose vision has always been to build not just physical infrastructure, but strong, empowered communities—starting within the company.

As part of this ongoing mission, we recently conducted an Anti-Sexual Harassment Awareness Program with the theme “Break the Silence, Speak Up, End Sexual Harassment.”

This initiative reflects our dedication to strengthening UBI’s workplace values and fostering a space where dignity is the standard, not a privilege.

Why It Matters

Sexual harassment—whether verbal, physical, or online—can quietly undermine employee confidence and create unhealthy environments. In line with Republic Act 7877, or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, employers are required to create mechanisms that prevent, address, and resolve incidents of harassment in the workplace.

UBI’s mission is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of all employees, regardless of rank.

The Awareness Session

The symposium was held on September 20, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the UBI Clinic Central Office in Maa, Davao City, and was attended by 53 employees from various departments.

We partnered with the Integrated Gender and Development Division (IGDD) of the Davao City Mayor’s Office, with Ms. Lorna B. Mandin, Division Head, serving as our esteemed resource speaker. The session began with registration and a prayer led by Mr. James Sajulga of our HR department, who also acted as the program’s master of ceremonies.

Insights and Real Talk

Ms. Mandin shared eye-opening insights about how harassment manifests in both subtle and overt ways. According to her, sexual harassment isn’t just about unwanted advances—it’s also about power dynamics, implied threats, or uncomfortable environments that leave lasting emotional and psychological impact.

She highlighted that harassment:
● Can affect job satisfaction and productivity
● Often leads to emotional distress
● Has long-term consequences, especially when experienced early in one’s career

Ms. Mandin also touched on the broader scope of today’s laws, including the Safe Spaces Act, which expands protection beyond the workplace and into schools, public areas, and digital platforms. Harassment doesn’t only come from superiors—it can happen between peers, in public, or even online.

Creating Safe Spaces for All

The session emphasized that awareness is a form of protection and that employees have every right to feel secure, supported, and valued at work. We also discussed the procedures that employees can follow to report incidents—discreetly and with full support from management.

More importantly, the event reminded us that respect should be part of our daily interactions, not just something we talk about in training.

What This Means for UBI

This awareness initiative is just one of the ways Ulticon continues to build a workplace guided by the principles of integrity, care, and safety. We are committed to:

● Providing clear procedures for handling complaints
● Protecting employees from all forms of harassment
● Ensuring education and awareness remain ongoing
● Upholding a culture where everyone feels empowered to speak up

At Ulticon, safety includes not just hard hats and steel-toe boots but also the emotional and mental security of every team member.

Moving Forward Together

We believe that conversations like these lay the groundwork for a healthier, more inclusive, and respectful workplace. And when we build respect internally, it shows in the work we deliver to the communities we serve.

UBI’s health and safety initiatives continue to evolve, but the goal remains the same: to protect, uplift, and value our people.

Ulticon Sponsored PICE Fun Run, Making Strides Together

As part of its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility, Ulticon Builders Inc. proudly supported the PICE Fun Run 2024, held on May 26, 2024, in Davao City. Organized by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) – Davao City Chapter, the event brought engineers, partners, and local communities together to raise funds for abandoned children and community development projects.

Ulticon’s sponsorship of this meaningful initiative exemplifies the company’s dedication to uplifting lives—not only through infrastructure but through partnerships that make a difference. True to Ulticon’s core values of Care, Health and Safety, and Teamwork, the company ran side by side with professionals committed to social impact.

This effort reflects the vision of President and Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, whose leadership has helped shape a culture of service, wellness, and nation-building within Ulticon.

A Shared Run Toward Social Progress

The PICE Fun Run 2024 was more than a physical activity—it was a movement to support abandoned children and underserved communities. The event served as a fundraising platform, with all proceeds directed toward programs that offer shelter, education, and care to vulnerable youth in Davao.

The Ulticon sponsorship provided vital support to the event’s success, helping PICE cover costs and expand its reach across sectors. The partnership also symbolized solidarity between engineering professionals and the communities they serve.

Participation with Purpose

Led by Engr. Darwin T. Santos, PICE Davao Chapter President, and supported by Engr. Juby B. Cordon, DPWH XI Regional Director and PICE Regional Coordinator, the event drew hundreds of participants from public and private sectors alike.

Twenty-five Ulticon employees joined the Fun Run, representing various departments and roles—from engineers to administrative staff. They ran as a united team, each stride reinforcing the company’s culture of teamwork, social awareness, and physical wellness.

For Ulticon, encouraging employee participation in events like this supports holistic development—blending personal growth with community impact.

Empowering the Profession and the Public

By supporting the PICE Fun Run, Ulticon affirmed its commitment to strengthening the civil engineering profession and investing in initiatives that go beyond business. The company’s logo was featured in all major promotional materials, including race bibs, finisher shirts, streamers, and posters—marking its role as a Principal Sponsor and Official Partner.

Yet, beyond visibility, this sponsorship represented a deeper partnership: one rooted in a shared belief that engineers can—and should—be active participants in solving social challenges. PICE events such as the Fun Run also provide valuable networking and development opportunities for engineering professionals. As a regular supporter of these initiatives, Ulticon recognizes the importance of continuously investing in the professional community it belongs to. From students and young engineers to seasoned industry experts, gatherings like these help cultivate relationships and inspire collaboration for future projects with social value.

CSR That Builds More Than Infrastructure

Ulticon’s participation in this event is one of many community-centered initiatives under its wider CSR program, which continues to grow each year. These efforts include
● Blood donation drives in partnership with SPMC
● Vaccination campaigns and employee health services
● Donations to IP communities and upland cooperatives
● Educational support and access road construction in remote areas
● Relief distribution in times of disaster

Each initiative reflects Ulticon’s belief that progress is only meaningful when it reaches the most underserved. This philosophy continues to shape the company’s projects, partnerships, and purpose.

The company sees its role as more than a service provider or contractor. As a partner in nation-building, Ulticon works not just to deliver on infrastructure goals but also to influence broader change in communities. Through active CSR engagement, the company fosters long-term relationships with public institutions, professional organizations, and social development groups across Mindanao and beyond.

These relationships reflect Ulticon’s mission to build with intention—focusing not only on output but on the human stories and communities behind each initiative. Whether it’s supporting a fun run, constructing a bridge, or delivering aid to far-flung areas, every action is guided by a genuine desire to improve the lives of Filipinos.

A Lasting Impact

With this successful Ulticon sponsorship, the company once again demonstrated what can happen when corporate responsibility meets community collaboration. The Fun Run not only covered kilometers but also fostered connections, increased awareness, and provided opportunities for children in need.

As Ulticon continues its mission to build for a better future, partnerships like this remain central to its identity. Whether in the form of a highway or a helping hand, Ulticon moves forward with purpose—making strides together with the people and communities it serves.

Ulticon Builders Raises Cancer Awareness in Davao Office

Health is one of the most important foundations for a strong workforce. At Ulticon Builders Inc. (UBI), we believe that caring for our people’s well-being is just as critical as delivering world-class infrastructure. This belief was reinforced during our recent Cancer Awareness Program, a symposium held at our main office clinic in Davao City. It was organized as part of our broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Health and Safety initiatives, underscoring our commitment to a healthier workplace and community.

This initiative reflects our value of CARE and supports our ISO-certified Occupational Health and Safety Management System. While our projects span bridges, roads, and tunnels across the country, programs like this remind us that the well-being of our team members is just as important as the physical structures we build.

Championing Employee Health Through Education

The event was led by the Office of Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE) in partnership with the Cancer Division of the City Health Office. Medical professionals, including District Health Physicians Dr. Kara Marcella Barro and Dr. Sharlene Tan, gave insightful presentations on the early signs of cancer, risk factors, and the importance of regular checkups. Ulticon’s own company nurses, Anna Liza A. Bacus and Lani Mae A. Astudillo, helped facilitate the program.

The goal was to educate employees on how to recognize potential warning signs and take action before it’s too late. Topics covered included the top cancer types in the Philippines such as breast, lung, colon, and prostate cancers. The discussion also addressed how lifestyle choices, environmental exposure, and family history can influence cancer risk.

The format was interactive and approachable, encouraging employees to ask questions and share concerns. When health education is delivered in a relatable way, it becomes more effective and impactful.

Wellness as a Workplace Standard

Ulticon Builders has always treated health and safety not as a checkbox, but as a core part of our operations. We implement daily health monitoring on project sites, enforce strict safety protocols, and conduct regular wellness checks. This cancer awareness symposium is part of a larger effort to embed wellness into our workplace culture.

By prioritizing programs like these, we empower our employees with knowledge and resources that help them protect not only their lives but also the lives of their families. Prevention and early detection are key, and the first step toward that is awareness. This event encouraged our team to be proactive in managing their health.

For Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon co-founder and Chairman, this focus on people is deeply personal. His vision for Ulticon has always extended beyond physical infrastructure. It is about building a company where people feel valued, protected, and supported. CSR activities like this bring that vision to life.

Bringing the Message Home

One of the most powerful parts of the symposium was its emotional resonance. Participants shared stories of loved ones who battled cancer, while some reflected on their own experiences with health scares. These testimonies reminded everyone in the room that cancer is not just a medical issue. It is a human one. It affects families, careers, and futures.

By hosting this event, Ulticon created a safe space for conversation and support. We want our employees to feel that their workplace is not only a source of livelihood but also a source of strength. Taking care of each other begins with understanding and compassion, especially when dealing with something as life-changing as cancer.

Our CSR and health programs aim to foster an environment where empathy thrives. These are the values that help us work better together and face challenges not just as coworkers, but as a family.

More Than Construction

The reality is that cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of death worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, millions of lives could be saved each year through education, early detection, and access to proper care. While Ulticon Builders is not a health care provider, we can be a powerful ally in the fight against cancer by using our platform to raise awareness and promote prevention.

This is part of our broader vision as a responsible corporate citizen. We understand that infrastructure alone does not build a nation. People do. And the stronger and healthier our people are, the stronger our country becomes.

Ulticon Builders is proud to be a company that doesn’t just talk about wellness but takes real steps to support it. Hosting health-focused events in the workplace is one of the many ways we demonstrate this commitment.

Leading by Example in CSR

Corporate Social Responsibility at Ulticon Builders is not confined to donation drives or outreach events. It is deeply integrated into the way we lead, work, and grow. From environmental efforts like tree planting in Paquibato, to supporting indigenous communities and disaster-stricken areas, we are consistently finding ways to give back.

Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon has always believed that businesses should be agents of positive change. His leadership has ensured that every project we undertake is backed by a sense of purpose and community impact. Our track record of successful CSR initiatives reflects that philosophy.

The Cancer Awareness Program is a clear example of how Ulticon uses its platform not only to build physical structures but to foster meaningful change in people’s lives. Every life we help protect is as valuable as any bridge or highway we construct.

Building Toward a Healthier Future

As we continue to grow and expand across the country, our dedication to CSR remains as strong as ever. We will continue organizing health education programs, supporting medical initiatives, and providing platforms where employees can learn, heal, and connect.

We know that the road to a better Philippines is not built only with concrete and steel. It is paved with empathy, shared responsibility, and a genuine concern for the welfare of others.

Through initiatives like the Cancer Awareness Program, Ulticon Builders Inc. proves that even in an industry focused on physical infrastructure, there is always room to build something deeper:
trust, health, and hope.

Our people are our greatest strength. Investing in their well-being is not just good practice. It is who we are.

Ulticon Builders Upholds Safety Through Drug-Free Workplace

Safety has always been a cornerstone of operations at Ulticon Builders Inc. As a company that delivers critical infrastructure across Mindanao and beyond, we understand that workplace integrity begins with the people behind the projects. That is why we consistently invest in programs that uphold health, wellness, and accountability throughout the organization.

As part of this commitment, Ulticon recently conducted a Random Employee Drug Testing activity at the company’s main office in Davao City. Led by our Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department in partnership with Davao Specialists Clinic & Diagnostic Laboratory (SCDL), the initiative was designed to strengthen our existing safety framework and ensure that our work environment remains professional, productive, and secure.

This initiative supports our vision of building not just structures, but a culture rooted in discipline, trust, and well-being.

Prioritizing Workplace Health and Safety

A drug-free workplace is fundamental to productivity and safety. It protects not only the individual, but also the team, clients, and the public. Construction sites, in particular, require sharp attention, sound judgment, and coordinated teamwork. Substance misuse can compromise all of these and place others at risk.

Ulticon recognizes this and proactively monitors employee wellness through regular health programs, one of which is random drug testing. This process is done with fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to medical and ethical standards. Our aim is not to punish, but to protect. When employees know they are supported and held to a clear standard, they respond with accountability and pride.

The testing conducted at our main office was received positively. Employees appreciated the clarity of purpose and understood that this is part of a bigger effort to maintain the safety and reputation of the company they help build every day.

Reinforcing Professional Standards

As an ISO-certified contractor with accreditations in Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, Ulticon Builders takes compliance seriously. But more than meeting industry requirements, we want to set the benchmark.

Random drug testing is part of our broader Health and Safety policy. It is applied fairly across departments and ranks. The results are confidential and handled with the highest level of professionalism by our medical partners.

By conducting this kind of proactive testing, we are reinforcing a culture where professionalism is expected and respected. It sends a clear message that Ulticon is a workplace where high standards are non-negotiable.

Employees perform better when they know they are operating in a safe, secure, and disciplined environment. Clients trust us more when they know we are taking every measure to uphold integrity from planning to execution.

Driven by Leadership That Cares

At the core of this initiative is a leadership that understands the importance of long-term sustainability—not just in the roads and bridges we build, but in the people who build them.

Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, Ulticon co-founder and Chairman, has always placed strong emphasis on care and discipline as key traits of the organization. Under his leadership, Ulticon has grown to become one of the Philippines’ most respected Quadruple A contractors, not only because of engineering excellence but because of the values that define us.

Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon is not just a name behind the company. He is a leader who believes that a drug-free, healthy workplace is essential to progress. His vision continues to shape our policies, ensuring that every team member operates with focus, dignity, and responsibility.

Creating a Safe Space for Growth

Our approach to employee wellness extends beyond compliance. We want to foster a workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and motivated to grow. This includes addressing sensitive topics such as substance misuse with empathy and clarity.

Employees who may need help are guided to the right resources. Those who demonstrate good standing are acknowledged. And those who have concerns are heard without judgment.

Through initiatives like random drug testing, we are not only checking for compliance. We are also encouraging self-awareness, self-discipline, and mutual respect. These are the building blocks of a high-performance team.

Building Trust With Stakeholders

Ulticon Builders Inc. works with national government agencies, private developers, and international partners. Trust is everything in these relationships. By demonstrating that we maintain a drug-free, health-conscious workforce, we strengthen our position as a reliable, world-class construction company.

Clients expect more than completed projects. They want transparency, ethical operations, and sustainable results. We deliver all of this by investing in programs that ensure our people are fit to perform at their best.

This level of accountability is one of the reasons why Ulticon continues to be awarded high-value projects across Regions X, XI, and XIII. Our results speak for themselves. And behind those results are systems built on integrity.

Cultivating a Culture of Responsibility

We believe that culture is shaped by the behaviors we reinforce. Drug-free workplace programs like this set the tone for how we do business. They create a sense of shared responsibility that carries over into other areas—quality control, time management, and ethical decision-making.

When employees know the standard, they rise to meet it. When leadership shows consistency, teams follow suit. And when the organization demonstrates care, people respond with loyalty.

Ulticon’s culture is one of purpose and progress. From the boardroom to the job site, every member of the team is encouraged to lead by example.

Moving Forward With Stronger Foundations

As we move into new projects and expand our operations, Ulticon will continue to invest in initiatives that protect and uplift our workforce. Our Health and Safety programs are evolving, and random drug testing will remain a regular component of this strategy.

But more than just testing, we are also investing in health seminars, psychological support, wellness drives, and accessible medical care. We understand that employee well-being is multi-dimensional. And we are committed to supporting it from all angles.

We are proud to lead with integrity. We are proud to support our people with real, measurable action. And we are proud to set the standard in building not only infrastructure, but also character.

A safe workplace is a successful workplace. And a responsible workforce is an unstoppable one.

Ulticon Builders Strengthens Regional Project Coordination

At Ulticon Builders Inc., we know that quality construction begins with clear communication, strategic planning, and teamwork. As a company responsible for delivering major infrastructure projects across Mindanao and beyond, we prioritize seamless coordination between our project sites and support departments. This commitment was reinforced during a critical PE/PICCoordination Meeting with our project leaders from Regions XI and XIII.

The gathering brought together engineers, project heads, legal and operational teams, and key department leads under one roof to discuss how to keep our projects moving efficiently. More than just a planning session, it was a demonstration of how we practice excellence and integrity in every stage of our work.

This meeting was not just about reviewing numbers. It was about strengthening accountability, promoting collaboration, and laying the groundwork for continued success.

Aligning Goals With Action

At the heart of the coordination meeting was a detailed comparison of actual accomplishments versus projected targets across our various projects. This exercise is standard practice for Ulticon, as it helps identify where we are ahead, where we may be falling behind, and what needs to be done to stay on track.

Each project engineer and project-in-charge had the opportunity to present updates, highlight wins, and raise concerns. From road development to bridge construction, every site’s performance was evaluated objectively, not only to measure output but also to understand the unique challenges each team faces.

By fostering open discussions around real data, we empower our teams to make better, faster, and more informed decisions. This is how we consistently deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.

Solving Problems Together

One of the most valuable outcomes of the PE/PIC Coordination Meeting was the opportunity to surface problems that may affect timelines or quality. Challenges like equipment delays, labor gaps, unforeseen site conditions, or coordination issues were brought to the table.

But what made the meeting successful was not just the identification of issues. It was the willingness of every department to offer support and solutions. Fleet Management committed to faster deployment schedules. Procurement agreed to revisit lead times for critical materials.

Engineering offered technical consultations for complex site requirements. Legal and Human Resources provided guidance on compliance and workforce support.

This kind of multi-departmental collaboration is what makes Ulticon Builders efficient and resilient. We are not just a collection of departments or isolated project teams. We operate as one unified force with a shared purpose.

A Culture of Accountability and Ownership

Accountability is one of the defining characteristics of Ulticon’s operations. Every project we undertake carries a responsibility—not only to our clients but to the communities who depend on these infrastructures for mobility, safety, and economic activity.

The coordination meeting served as a reminder that every team member, from project engineer to department head, has a role in fulfilling that responsibility. Targets were not only reviewed but reaffirmed, and expectations were clearly set. This clarity fuels urgency, responsibility, and most of all, ownership.

Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon co-founder and Chairman, has long emphasized the importance of accountability in leadership. He believes that when expectations are clear andsupport is present, people rise to meet them. His guidance continues to shape the culture at Ulticon, where everyone is encouraged to lead from where they are.

Driving Consistency Across Regions

With ongoing projects in Regions XI and XIII, it is vital that Ulticon maintains consistency in execution and reporting. The PE/PIC Coordination Meeting allowed regional project teams to align their practices and benchmarks with central operations.

This alignment helps eliminate duplication of work, sets uniform standards, and ensures that our signature brand of quality and excellence is upheld in every site, regardless of location. It also allowed teams from different regions to learn from each other, exchange best practices, and foster a sense of shared progress.

Even as each site operates under unique conditions, the Ulticon standard remains the same—timely, safe, and world-class project delivery.

Building Stronger Project Leaders

Ulticon invests heavily in people because we know that empowered project leaders are key to our long-term success. The coordination meeting was also an opportunity to mentor, train, and strengthen our pool of engineers and PICs.

Senior leaders from Operations, Legal, and HR shared insights on compliance, labor relations, site management, and professional development. These touchpoints serve not only as operational support but also as leadership development for our on-ground managers.

By equipping our site leaders with knowledge and mentorship, we ensure that Ulticon’s values are carried into every decision, every negotiation, and every project milestone.

A Legacy of Collaboration and Results

What sets Ulticon Builders apart is not just our capacity to build, but our ability to manage, coordinate, and deliver—no matter how complex the task or how distant the location. That is why we continue to be the contractor of choice for government and private clients across the country.

Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon has built this company on principles that never waver: excellence in execution, innovation in process, integrity in every commitment, and care for the people who carry out our mission. Meetings like these prove that we are living those values each day.

Our projects may be technical, but our approach is always human. That is how we continue to build not just structures, but trust.

Moving Forward With Purpose

As Ulticon Builders continues to grow and expand across Regions X, XI, and XIII,  we will keep strengthening the coordination between our teams and leaders. We believe that no success is ever accidental—it is built with intent, consistency, and shared accountability.

Through initiatives like the PE/PIC Coordination Meeting, we are actively shaping a future where Ulticon remains a leader in construction and project management. We are proud of our people, our processes, and our partnerships. We are proud to build the roads that connect communities and the systems that make those roads possible.

Most of all, we are proud to do it together.

Ulticon Builders Reinforces Project Excellence in Region X

Ulticon Builders Inc. has always believed that communication, alignment, and accountability are
key drivers of success in construction. With projects spanning the most challenging terrains across Mindanao and beyond, the importance of project coordination is paramount. To ensure consistency in execution, Ulticon recently hosted a PE/PIC Coordination Meeting dedicated to Region X, bringing together key project engineers, department heads, and top executives in one productive session.

The goal was to assess the actual progress of ongoing projects, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and set new targets that reflect both ambition and capability. These coordination meetings are a standard part of our operations, yet they continue to spark fresh energy and insight into how we can do better, move faster, and build stronger.

This is where excellence is shaped—through open dialogue, honest review, and collective problem-solving.

Aligning Performance With Projections

During the meeting, every Region X project engineer and project-in-charge presented detailed updates on their respective sites. Each presentation included a review of actual accomplishments against previously set projections. This process, while technical, goes beyond the numbers. It opens the door to critical thinking, proactive adjustment, and deeper ownership of results.

Project performance data gives us visibility. But what makes that data powerful is how it is interpreted and used. Are we behind because of weather delays or supplier constraints? Are there local conditions affecting labor mobilization? These questions are explored in depth, not to place blame, but to create solutions.

Our teams know that progress isn’t linear, especially in the field of infrastructure. But what matters most is how we respond, adapt, and commit to recovering timelines without compromising quality.

Breaking Silos, Strengthening Solutions

One of the most impactful elements of Ulticon’s coordination meetings is the presence of support departments. Fleet Management, Procurement, Engineering, Survey, Legal, and Human Resources all participate, creating a 360-degree approach to project execution.

Instead of working in silos, these departments collaborate with on-ground leaders to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. For example, if an equipment delay is holding back a key activity on site, Fleet can step in with a revised deployment schedule. If workforce availability is low, HR can coordinate with site management to recruit skilled personnel faster.

These real-time exchanges allow Ulticon to remove barriers before they become critical, saving both time and resources. It is this spirit of collaboration that keeps our projects moving, especially in high-priority infrastructure zones like Region X.

Upholding Accountability Through Leadership

Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, Ulticon co-founder and Chairman, has instilled a strong culture of accountability across all levels of the organization. He has always believed that great leadership does not just delegate—it empowers, listens, and sets the tone for excellence.

During the Region X coordination meeting, Vice President for Operations Ruben M. Garcia emphasized the importance of leadership at the project level. Site engineers and project-in-charge are not just technical supervisors. They are frontliners of Ulticon’s brand of service, responsible for driving productivity, quality, and safety.

Each one is entrusted with not just a task, but a legacy. We build roads, bridges, and public facilities that transform communities. It is a responsibility that cannot be taken lightly. At Ulticon, leadership is not about rank. It is about action and accountability.

A Clear Path Forward

With the support of Atty. Kristine Javier and the Legal Team, as well as representatives from all
major operational units, the Region X teams mapped out a forward-looking strategy. Each site was given clear targets and timelines, and each department committed to providing the necessary support to make those goals achievable.

This alignment of expectations and responsibilities is what makes Ulticon’s project management system so effective. Everyone leaves the room knowing exactly what is expected, who is accountable, and what resources will be made available.

We do not leave progress to chance. We plan it, track it, and deliver it—together.

Consistency Across Regions

Ulticon operates in multiple regions simultaneously, each with unique landscapes, logistics, and community dynamics. Yet across all these projects, one thing remains constant: our commitment to delivering on time, on spec, and with the highest standard of workmanship.

This consistency is no accident. It is the result of regular coordination meetings like this, where
project teams across regions are aligned with central operations. It is also a product of strong
systems, experienced leadership, and an organizational culture built on shared values.

From Region X to Metro Manila, the Ulticon way is the same—clear direction, efficient action, and accountable leadership.

Investing in People and Processes

While infrastructure is our core business, our most valuable assets are our people. The coordination meeting was also an opportunity to reinforce professional development, teamwork, and knowledge sharing among our engineers and project heads.

Operational updates were combined with leadership insights, best practices, and discussions about improving communication across departments and sites. These learnings translate into more confident, competent teams who are equipped to handle even the most complex engineering challenges.

This investment in people is deliberate. It is one of the reasons why Ulticon Builders remains a trusted name in the industry after more than three decades and over 500 completed projects.

Sustaining Excellence Through CSR Values

Corporate Social Responsibility is often seen as outreach or charity work, but at Ulticon, CSR is
also about internal responsibility. How do we support our teams? How do we grow our people? How do we create environments where excellence thrives?

The Region X coordination meeting was a CSR initiative in itself—one focused on professional growth, strategic alignment, and operational integrity. These meetings ensure that every project we build is not just structurally sound, but ethically managed and professionally executed. Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon believes in creating an environment where engineers are empowered to lead, workers are treated with respect, and every structure we build serves a greater good.

This belief is reflected not only in our completed projects, but also in the way we build the people behind them.

Moving Toward Shared Success

There is no secret to Ulticon’s success. It is rooted in discipline, planning, teamwork, and a relentless pursuit of quality. It is built on years of experience, forward-thinking leadership, and a
genuine care for people.

Through region-wide coordination meetings like the one held for Region X, we continue to sharpen our edge, refine our processes, and nurture leaders who carry Ulticon’s values wherever they go.

We are not just building roads. We are building trust, communities, and futures. One project at a time. One team at a time. One milestone at a time.

That is what it means to lead with purpose. That is the Ulticon way.

Ulticon Builders Reviews Project Progress and Manpower Plans

At Ulticon Builders Inc., excellence is not left to chance. It is the product of precise planning, honest evaluation, and purposeful collaboration. As a trusted Quadruple A general contractor, Ulticon continues to deliver vital infrastructure across the country while ensuring that every project is backed by a highly coordinated and well-supported workforce.

In line with this commitment, the company recently held a major Coordination Meeting that brought together operations executives, project managers, and key department heads to assess project performance and manpower alignment. More than a routine meeting, this was an opportunity to take a deeper look at progress and explore smarter, more proactive ways to keep every project moving forward.

Guided by our core values and the leadership of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, Ulticon continues to build not only the country’s roads, bridges, and highways but also a culture of excellence driven by people who take responsibility for results.

Evaluating Project Accomplishments

A primary objective of the meeting was to align actual accomplishments against projected timelines. Each project team presented a detailed status report, offering insights into their completed milestones and ongoing deliverables. These figures were carefully reviewed and compared with their original schedules.

This process allows project managers and department leads to identify delays, pinpoint root causes, and develop appropriate action plans. It also reinforces accountability across all levels, reminding every team that success is measured not just in completion, but in consistent progress.

Project completion is never simply about pouring concrete or raising steel. It is a combination of
resource planning, workflow coordination, weather monitoring, and timely execution. Through this meeting, Ulticon made it clear that progress must be intentional and well-managed.

Addressing Manpower and Payroll Challenges

A major portion of the coordination meeting was dedicated to workforce planning and payroll management. This is a critical area for any construction company, but especially for one as large and diverse as Ulticon Builders Inc.

Human Resources, together with Operations, presented updates on current site staffing, worker mobilization timelines, and project-specific labor needs. Departments discussed ways to improve deployment, balance site workloads, and avoid redundancy or labor gaps.

Payroll was also a central part of the discussion. Ensuring that all employees, from office staff to
site workers, are paid on time and accurately is one of Ulticon’s top priorities. As a company that values its people, fair and prompt compensation is part of how we maintain trust, loyalty, and productivity across teams.

By reviewing these items in a joint session, we create an environment where administrative and technical departments work together toward shared goals.

Solving Delays With Practical Solutions

Delays are an inevitable part of construction. However, they do not have to derail an entire project. With the right interventions and timely decision-making, delays can be managed and even prevented.

During the coordination meeting, several project heads raised concerns regarding delivery lead
times, site access, and weather interruptions. In each case, solutions were proposed immediately, with relevant departments offering support. Procurement committed to expedite critical materials, Engineering advised on design modifications to reduce downtime, and Fleet Management proposed alternative equipment routing.

This kind of solution-focused conversation is what sets Ulticon apart. Instead of allowing challenges to stack up, we address them head-on, bringing together expertise from all sides to keep projects on schedule.

This meeting showed that proactive problem-solving is not just a practice. At Ulticon, it is a
mindset.

Leadership That Sets the Tone

The meeting was led by Vice President for Operations Ruben M. Garcia, Executive for HR and Admin Susan Quintans, and AVP for HR and Admin Atty. Kristine Javier. Their guidance provided structure to the discussion and clarity to the decisions being made.

They emphasized the importance of acting quickly when issues arise and supporting field teams with the tools and personnel they need to stay productive. They also reinforced the company’s expectation for regular performance tracking and accurate reporting.

It is this leadership that has allowed Ulticon to scale without losing sight of operational integrity.
From the executive team down to project-in-charge officers, Ulticon leaders are expected to not only manage but inspire.

And it is working. With more than 2,000 employees and over 500 completed projects, Ulticon’s leadership framework is a proven model of efficiency and accountability.

Guided by Vision and Values

Throughout the meeting, one message was clear: the success of our projects reflects the strength of our systems, the quality of our decisions, and the dedication of our people. This is a philosophy deeply rooted in the leadership of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez Ulticon co-founder and Chairman. For over three decades, his guidance has shaped the company’s focus on high standards, innovative thinking, and people-centered growth.

Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon believes that infrastructure is not just about construction. It is
about transformation. And for transformation to happen, both the project and the people behind it must be aligned and empowered.

That belief continues to drive Ulticon forward—through planning sessions like this and through every milestone we deliver.

Strengthening Cross-Department Synergy

Another significant outcome of the coordination meeting was improved interdepartmental alignment. Fleet Management, Procurement, Engineering, HR, and Admin functions all presented updates and offered input during the project assessments.

This inclusive format fosters unity across departments that might otherwise operate in isolation. It also promotes a more agile work culture where collaboration is not just encouraged but expected.

Ulticon knows that success in construction depends not only on individual performance but also on how well departments work together. Meetings like this reinforce that teamwork is not optional. It is essential.

Setting the Stage for Continued Growth

As Ulticon continues to expand its reach across Regions X, XI, XII, XIII, and Metro Manila, the importance of coordination cannot be overstated. Each region presents unique challenges, but through sessions like this, the company ensures that every team remains aligned with corporate objectives.

Target-setting at the conclusion of the meeting ensured that everyone walked away with clear goals and action points. Deadlines were established, responsibilities were defined, and follow-ups were scheduled.

This level of structure is how Ulticon maintains consistency in quality and delivery, no matter the
size or scope of a project.

A Company Built on People and Purpose

While Ulticon’s reputation is built on landmark projects and national recognition, its foundation is
its people. Our engineers, procurement officers, machine operators, safety personnel, and admin staff are the real reason we are able to deliver excellence day after day.

The Coordination Meeting was not just about systems and statistics. It was a reaffirmation of Ulticon’s commitment to invest in its people, to listen, and to lead with purpose.

Every discussion, every decision, and every solution crafted in that room contributes to the larger vision we hold—building a better Philippines by building better teams, better structures, and better systems.

Moving Forward With Clarity and Confidence

With the successful completion of the Coordination Meeting, Ulticon Builders Inc. once again demonstrated its commitment to proactive project management, employee welfare, and operational transparency.

As we move forward, we do so with stronger alignment, clearer goals, and deeper respect for the work that lies ahead.

Ulticon is not only building the nation’s infrastructure. We are building a legacy of responsibility, excellence, and care.

Ulticon Builders Hosts TB Awareness for Employee Health

For Ulticon Builders Inc., building a better Philippines means more than completing roads, bridges, and highways. It also means protecting the people who make those projects possible. That is why our commitment to health and wellness runs deep. Through a proactive approach to workplace safety and employee education, we continue to lead in ways that matter beyond construction.

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and health initiatives, we recently held a Tuberculosis Awareness Symposium at our main office in Davao City. This important activity was organized by the Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE) Department in collaboration with the Davao City Chest Center and the City Health Office. It was designed to educate our team on the risks of tuberculosis and other lung-related illnesses while encouraging early detection and treatment.

Health is not just a personal responsibility. At Ulticon, it is a shared priority.

Raising Awareness to Save Lives

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the Philippines’ most pressing public health challenges. Despite being preventable and curable, the disease continues to affect thousands of Filipinos every year. It spreads easily through the air and thrives in environments where awareness, access to healthcare, and proper hygiene may be limited.

Recognizing this, Ulticon’s OSHE Department took the initiative to bring TB education straight to our workforce. With guidance from Dr. Nikita Marie Jamiana, District Health Physician, the symposium focused on practical knowledge that employees could use both at work and at home.

Participants learned how TB is transmitted, what symptoms to watch for, and the importance of completing treatment once diagnosed. Dr. Jamiana also clarified common misconceptions and emphasized that TB is not a death sentence if addressed early and responsibly. These are the types of conversations that can save lives. At Ulticon, we believe everyone deserves access to credible information about their health.

Health Advocacy in Action

This symposium was more than a lecture. It was an opportunity for employees to ask questions, raise concerns, and engage with health professionals in a safe, supportive space. Ulticon nurses Anna Liza A. Bacus and Lani Mae A. Astudillo helped facilitate the session and ensured that all attendees had access to take-home materials and follow-up resources.

Our teams left the event with not just information, but empowerment. They gained the confidence to take action, whether by scheduling check-ups, encouraging peers to seek help, or practicing preventive habits like covering one’s mouth when coughing, wearing masks in high-risk areas, and maintaining proper ventilation in shared spaces.

TB may be invisible at first, but through education, we are making it visible—and beatable.

Building a Culture of Care

Corporate Social Responsibility is a cornerstone of Ulticon Builders Inc. It is not a department or
a seasonal effort. It is embedded in how we operate daily. Our health programs are driven by a culture of care that reflects our core values, especially Health and Safety and Care.

We see our employees as more than their job titles. They are parents, siblings, breadwinners, and community leaders. Protecting their health protects families and communities, which is why we treat every awareness program as a vital investment in their future.

Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, Ulticon co-founder and Chairman, has long championed this kind of people-first leadership. His vision of corporate success has always included well-being as a key metric. Under his guidance, Ulticon Builders has grown into a company that not only delivers infrastructure on time and with excellence but also cultivates a workforce that is strong, resilient, and healthy.

When we say we build for the nation, we mean every person who helps lay each brick and pour every road.

From the Office to the Field

Our TB Awareness Program is part of a broader series of health-focused initiatives designed for both office and project site personnel. We understand that exposure risks can vary depending on work conditions, which is why we adapt our health campaigns to meet the unique needs of our field teams.

Whether it’s lung-related illnesses due to dust and prolonged site exposure, or communicable diseases in shared accommodations, Ulticon remains proactive in addressing these challenges through education, medical partnerships, and strict safety protocols.

We also encourage our project sites to conduct similar awareness campaigns and health screenings, ensuring that no one is left behind—no matter how remote the location.

The Role of Education in Prevention

One of the most powerful takeaways from the TB Awareness Symposium was how critical education is in the fight against infectious diseases. Ignorance, stigma, and delay are often more dangerous than the illness itself.

By providing clear, accurate information through trusted medical partners, Ulticon helps dismantle the fear and uncertainty that often surround TB. Employees now understand that TB is treatable and that help is available.

This kind of awareness empowers people to be proactive. It also encourages a supportive workplace where employees feel safe disclosing symptoms and seeking treatment without shame.

We are proud to say that at Ulticon, compassion is a daily practice. It’s reflected in how we talk about health and how we respond to those in need.

Long-Term Commitment to Health and Safety

As an ISO-certified company in Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, Ulticon Builders Inc. maintains a high standard for health protocols. We do not just comply with regulations. We exceed them.

From regular medical checkups and first aid training to mental health support and vaccination drives, we maintain a well-rounded approach to employee health. The TB Awareness Program is another step forward in this journey.

And it is not our last. More initiatives are in the pipeline, ensuring that every Ulticon employee has continued access to life-saving knowledge and support.

This isn’t just about checking a CSR box. It’s about standing by our people through every challenge and every victory.

Leading With Integrity and Impact

Corporate Social Responsibility is often seen in grand donations or publicized partnerships, but at Ulticon, we know that real CSR starts internally—with how we treat our own people. The Tuberculosis Awareness Program may have been a single-day event, but its impact will last much longer.

Every person who attended is now an ambassador for health. Every employee who shares what they learned is helping someone else stay safe. And every family that benefits from that awareness is part of our expanding circle of care.

Carlos Charlie Gonzalez Ulticon has led this company with integrity, vision, and a deep sense of responsibility to society. From high-level infrastructure developments to local health education, his leadership ensures that Ulticon’s legacy is as human as it is structural.

We do not just build roads. We build lives, and we protect them.

Moving Forward With Purpose

As we move ahead with major projects across Regions X, XI, XII, XIII, and Metro Manila, we carry with us the lessons of every CSR program we implement. The Tuberculosis Awareness Symposium reminded us that while our reach may be national, our impact is always personal.

Each health talk, each donated item, each planted tree, and each shared story becomes part of the larger narrative we are proud to write at Ulticon Builders Inc.

We remain committed to a future where infrastructure serves not only cities and economies but also people, their dreams, and their well-being. That is the Ulticon way.

Rooted in Care: UBI Plants Trees and Shares the Love

In celebration of International Wetlands Day and Valentine’s Day 2025, Ulticon Builders Inc. brought together environmental action, community outreach, and employee engagement in a morning full of meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts that captured the company’s enduring values: Care, Responsibility, and Teamwork.

The joint celebration, held on February 14, 2025, embodied Ulticon’s commitment to go beyond project delivery—by building relationships, protecting the environment, and enriching the lives of those in the communities we serve.

Nurturing Nature with Purpose

The day began in Brgy. Sumimao, Paquibato District, Davao City, where employees participated in a tree planting activity and Information Education Campaign (IEC) in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – CENRO Region XI. The event was led by Bheberhim V. Nodado, Pollution Control Officer under the Occupational, Safety, Health, and Environment Section (OSHE).
Held in observance of International Wetlands Day, the initiative emphasized the importance of conserving wetlands—ecosystems that play a critical role in biodiversity, climate stability, and water resource management.

As an ISO 14001:2015- Environmental Management System-certified organization, Ulticon is committed to sustainable practices that support both people and the planet. Guided by the leadership of President and Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, UBI integrates environmental responsibility into its operations—ensuring progress that respects nature and uplifts communities.

Employees from all departments joined the tree planting, with two representatives each department participating in the ecological restoration efforts. Through the IEC, participants also gained a deeper understanding of wetland ecosystems and their value in disaster prevention and sustainable development.

Giving Back to Brgy. Sumimao

In addition to the environmental initiative, Ulticon extended its CSR program to support the local community. Employees were encouraged to donate essential items such as clothing, slippers, and basic supplies in the weeks leading up to the event.

Celebrating Connections at the UBI Main Office

Later that afternoon, employees returned to the UBI Compound Grounds for a Valentine’s Day celebration designed to bring joy, connection, and lighthearted energy to the workplace.

All employees were invited to wear colors symbolizing their relationship status—from red for “in a relationship” to white for “single”—sparking laughter and camaraderie across the organization.
The event featured interactive games including:

● Mixed and Matched (Couple Edition) – The winning pair received a dinner at a fine-dining restaurant
● Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus – Each winner received PHP 500
● Tell Me – With PHP 500 awarded to each winning participant

Employees also enjoyed a Jam with UBI Sessionistas music session, creating a relaxed atmosphere where teams could enjoy live performances and end the workday on a high note.

Flexing Love from Afar

While the celebration took place at the head office, employees stationed in Regions X, XI, and XIII participated through a Valentine-themed social media contest. Through the campaign #UBIVALENTINES2025, they shared photos with their romantic partners, spouses, or loved ones, along with heartfelt captions.

One winner from each region was awarded PHP 2,000, recognizing sincerity, creativity, and spirit. The online initiative allowed project-based employees to feel equally part of the company culture, regardless of location.

More Than a Celebration

The February 14 activities were more than a celebration—they were a reflection of what Ulticon stands for. Through the combined power of environmental advocacy, community support, and internal engagement, Ulticon once again demonstrated that its commitment to building extends far beyond physical
infrastructure.

With leadership that champions sustainability and compassion, Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to prove that true progress means leaving no one behind—not the land, not the people, and not the employees who make it all possible.

UBI Strengthen Data Privacy Training Across Departments

In its steadfast commitment to integrity and operational excellence, Ulticon Builders Inc., under the leadership of President and Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzales, launched a series of Data Privacy Training sessions across all departments.

Spearheaded by Atty. Jayson G. Tan, UBI Legal Officer, the training series began on February 12, 2025, with the Human Resources Department as the first participant. Following the successful initial session, subsequent training was conducted for the IT, Internal Audit, Finance, Fleet Management, Purchasing, OSHE, Records, Operations, and Administrative Departments.

In total, seven comprehensive sessions were held, ensuring that all main office departments received proper orientation and awareness on data privacy standards, in alignment with the company’s core values and compliance initiatives.

The training aimed to educate employees on the principles and application of data privacy in the workplace. This emphasizes the importance of legal compliance and the responsibility of each employee in protecting personal and sensitive information across the organization.

Why Data Privacy Matters More Than Ever

In an increasingly digital business environment, every department plays a role in ensuring secure data practices. Whether managing employee records, financial reports, or system access — all teams contribute to maintaining trust and accountability within the organization.

These sessions were aligned with UBI’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a data-conscious culture and ensure full compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012. Employees actively engaged in the discussions by asking questions, sharing experiences, and connecting with the topic—making the sessions both interactive and meaningful.

On the other hand, Atty. Tan enriched the sessions by sharing real-life cases and relatable scenarios that helped participants better understand the importance of data privacy protection in the workplace.

Practical Takeaways for a Safer Workplace

The 2-hour training led by Atty. Tan outlined the legal risks of data mishandling, common operational oversights, and practical steps for improvement. Each department walked away with actionable strategies for:

● Protecting sensitive files
● Controlling access to confidential data
● Managing requests and disclosures responsibly
● Enhancing internal workflows for better compliance

As a result, UBI strengthened its internal safeguards and empowered key departments to become proactive defenders of privacy and information security. By investing in regular training and expert-led discussions, Ulticon continues to lead with intention—ensuring that its people, systems, and values evolve alongside modern business demands.
