Ulticon Builders Conducts DOH-FDA Approved Testing For Employees

The Quadruple A or AAAA certified General Contractor licensed company, Ulticon Builders Incorporated or UBI, with the responsible leadership of our President and Founder Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Davao City, has conducted a Covid-19 test for our employees on May 22, 2020 with the assistance of the Department of Health and other accredited health clinics. In the course of this Covid-19 world pandemic, Ulticon stands strong in its priority for the health and safety and well-being of our employees that are deployed to different Ulticon project sites.

The main purpose of Ulticon in strictly following the health restrictions and guidelines of the Philippine Government and the Department of Health is to help cut-off or diminish the widespread devastation of the COVID-19 virus. Conducting these DOH-FDA approved tests for our employees is a small but worthwhile contribution to ensure our teams stay safe and healthy.  It is also our goal to maintain the level of quality and productivity of our work so that all the nation’s efforts for progress and development will not be hampered.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), “To reduce the transmission of COVID-19, workers and employers in the private sector will be mandated to observe strict health protocols as the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and General Community Quarantine (GCQ) remain in effect. In the Interim Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of COVID-19 signed by Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, workers and employers will be required to follow total precautionary measures as the country grapples with the containment of the deadly COVID-19.”

Ulticon believes that when we work hand in hand will be able to overcome this national crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Being law-abiding citizens and showing support to our fellowmen is crucial at this time and serves as a positive example to our youth, our nation’s future leaders.

Ulticon Builders Donates COVID-19 Testing Kits To Samal Island

Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, President and Founder of Ulticon Builders Incorporated the Quadruple A or AAAA certified General Contractor company based in Davao City, Philippines donated 700 DOH FDA approved  test kits to the City Health Officer of the Island Garden City of Samal. Taking initiative in working together with the Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Health, Mayor Al David Uy and other accredited health clinics’, Ulticon’s main objective is to help prevent the sudden widespread of the coronavirus.

However, the big question is, what is the importance of COVID-19 rapid test kits and how does it help us? On March 30, 2020 in a press statement, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of five (5) Rapid Test Kits for COVID-19 today. The FDA supports all efforts to address this pandemic. These point-of-care test kits are registered for use in countries with reliable regulatory agencies such as China and Singapore. According to the FDA, Director General Eric Domingo, “We approve kits that are registered and used in countries with advanced technology and wide experience with COVID-19. We want the people to have access to testing but of course, proper evaluation and safeguards will still be in place.”

He also added that as a safety precaution, the FDA shall require the product inserts or label of the Rapid Test Kits to state the following:

  • This product is strictly for medical professional use only and not intended for personal use.
  • The administration of the test and interpretation of results should be done by a trained health professional.
  • Confirmatory testing is required.

He further said, “The rapid test kits will yield a faster result compared to PCR based kits, but it is important that a trained health professional will evaluate and interpret the results. We have to be very cautious in using these rapid test kits because they measure antibodies and not the viral load itself. The body takes time to develop antibodies and this might give a negative result for patients who have been infected but have not yet developed antibodies. A positive result due to cross reaction with other bacteria or viruses is also possible, which is why a confirmatory PCR based test is still required.”

UBI Donates Rapid Test Kits To CHO in Davao City

The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the world.  Yet in the middle of it all, Filipinos have been finding opportunities to showcase their “bayanihan” spirit.  Ulticon Builders Incorporated (UBI), one of the country’s largest construction companies, donated 3,000 DOH/FDA-approved COVID-19 Wondfo rapid test kits to Davao City Health Office (CHO).  Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, Davao CHO Chief Officer, accepted the donation and expressed her resolve to maximize the use of the test kits in helping slow down the spread of the virus in the  city.

Davao CHO is also working with the local government to disinfect public parks, terminals, ports, and all city government offices.  Disinfection will be conducted either every week or every two weeks until the city has flattened the curve.  Dr. Villafuerte said, “We have to make sure nga na-disinfect siya kay para kung kinsa ma’y naa’y sakit, kung kinsa ba naa’y viral infection, dili pud siya matakod sa lain. So we want to make the environment safe for the children and the community (We make sure that these places are disinfected so that whoever is sick or has viral infection will not infect others. We have to make sure that the environment is safe for the children and the community).”

Dr. Villafuerte added and stressed, “Please practice universal precautions.  Kung unsa gani health advice, please sundon pud nato because you’re not just protecting yourselves but you also protect your family and the community. (Please practice universal precautions. Please follow health advisories because you’re not just protecting yourselves but you also protect your family and the community).”

Coronavirus Disease 2019 is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei, China in December 2019.  Health experts caution the public not to take the virus lightly.  They recommend to follow minimum health standards:  (a) Wear a mask; (b) Wash hands with soap and water and refrain from touching the face with unwashed hands; (c) Observe physical distancing; (d) Avoid close contact with sick individuals; (e) Practice proper hygiene and maintain overall health.

Ulticon Assists in the Education of Tribal Scholars

Ulticon Builders Incorporated, under the supervision of Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, the President and Founder of UBI is consciously concerned of the welfare of our Filipino people most especially towards a healthier future for our children. Ulticon’s passion in helping others does not stop only by completing immense essential projects but it is also committed to provide quality infrastructure assistance and protect the life and environment of our indigenous people.

Being true Davaoeños, we always seek to promote the welfare or the good of everyone. And we do this by working hand-in-hand by being proactive in helping others in need is the pure form of us being humanitarian. On August 27, 2019, we gladly joined the Department of Education and Army’s 3rd Infantry Brigade in being part of completing building makeshift classrooms for the primary pupils of Sitio Gatungon, Barangay Tapak, Paquibato District.

Col. Nolasco Mempin, commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Brigade, said that the classroom in Paquibato District was completed on Tuesday (August 27) to provide for the educational needs of the elementary pupils of the STICLCI-run school in the area which was among the 55 tribal schools suspended by the Department of Education (DepEd).  This was due to the allegations of having school system’s ties with the communist rebel movement.

Mempin added, “At present the re-establishment of the temporary classrooms was funded by DepEd and its partners to aid the educational needs of the 51 primary pupils of Sitio Gatungon, Barangay Tapak, Paquibato District. The temporary school was funded by some of our partner stakeholders like Ulticon Builders Inc. (UBI), Peace 911 and DepEd will surely address the lack of classrooms in far-flung areas, the classroom also eased the pupils’ burden of walking for hours to go to the nearest DepEd school in the area.”

The sad thing about progress is sometimes we tend to forget about our less fortunate brothers and sisters.  A majority of us don’t see them regularly, but that doesn’t mean they cease to exist.  They have been taken for granted and left to fend for themselves.  Ulticon believes that a true sign of progress is when everyone achieves to have better lives.  And so our heart goes to always check and see if our dear brothers and sisters are still well taken care of.

UBI Sponsors the Palarong Pambansa 2019

Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Ulticon Builders Incorporated based in Davao City, Philippines, adheres to its commitment to give aid in every aspect to our local government.  He believes in shaping a better future for the less fortunate Filipino children who really need our assistance. Whether it’s through sports or education, we have the power to change their existing to dream big and rise up every obstacle or occasion that comes to their path.

In dreaming big for our young athletes, the local government of Davao City took this opportunity to host the biggest Palarong Pambansa (National Games 2019) that was ever recorded in history. This is the second time the city has hosted the said event and the first time it hosted was in the year 1950 when it won the bid over Zamboanga del Sur and Misamis Occidental.

The 2019 Palarong Pambansa which had the theme, “Shaping the future through sports” formally commenced on April 28 at the University of the Philippines Sports Complex in Tugbok District, Davao City.  It was graced with the presence of his Excellency President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and other government officials who were also in attendance. Based on official estimates, more than 20,000 people attended the event with 15,000 athletes coming from 17 different regions that competed in this year’s edition of the national sports event.

Philippine sports icons such as Lydia de Vega, Onyok Velasco, and James Younghusband were also present during the opening ceremony to give inspiration to our Filipino young athletes. The local government of Davao City allocated P69.3 million to conduct the national games which provided for the transportation (Buses), 70 kilos of chicken and beef, 15 sacks of rice for each delegate and free Wi-Fi connection in all 27 sporting venues for the athletes, sporting officials, media and the rest of all the members of each delegation.

In the whole five day event, the National Capital Region (NCR) once again stood its ground as the overall champion with 86 gold medals, 71 silver medals and 56 bronze medals. They have dominated the top rank of the national games for the last 15 years. The Davao Region ranked 11th place this year. Davao City swimmer Juliana Marien Villanueva breaks her own Palarong Pambansa record and defended her crown in the secondary girls 800m freestyle stroke. The 13-year-old Villanueva recorded a time of 9 minutes and 32.77 seconds to squash her previous 9:45.40 mark that she set in Vigan, Ilocos Norte last year.

Davao City prides itself along with its hundreds of sponsors coming from public and private sectors of our city who showed unity for the success of the Palarong Pambansa 2019. Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio graced the closing ceremony last May 04 at the same venue, in which she personally gave the awards to the winners and handed down the Palarong Pambansa flag to its next host which is the Occidental Mindoro Region.

Ulticon Humbly Sponsors the 34th Kadayawan

In the previous fruitful years of Ulticon Builders Incorporated, under the keen guidance of Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, they have shared the vision of helping build and pave the way of unifying a better nation. This is most especially true for the rural areas wherein roads and infrastructures are physically not available for the use and convenience of our Filipino indigent brothers and sisters.

Ulticon believes that we must continue the much-needed contribution for our country’s progress. At present, we can definitely take notice of the tangible infrastructure improvements for our people. In the creation of farm-to-market roads and bridges, it has become easier for our farmers to bring their farm crops and produce to the market. It is also a great advantage for them to gain access to our government services such as hospitalization, health and education programs amongst others.

We can be proud to visually perceive how enormous our city’s progress has become. For this reason, during the month of August every year, we celebrate the Kadayawan Festival to give thanks for a bountiful harvest and acknowledge the eleven tribes of Davao for their continued peace and support to our city and community.

In the launch of the 34th Kadayawan Festival, Mayor Sara inspiringly said, “I hope the celebration would give Dabawenyos the opportunity to appreciate and celebrate the blessings poured out to the city. We celebrate it annually not just to give Dabawenyos a reason to celebrate; we do it so we do not forget where we come from and what blessings we have received through the years, blessings which we continue to receive today.”

She also described the festival as a “coming together” of the community to show gratitude to the local indigenous people who have helped shape the history of our city. “I am inviting everyone across the globe to come and visit the city every year in the month of August to witness the highlights, the sights, and flavors of Kadayawan in Davao. IPs, Muslims and Christians—to go out and not just enjoy the festivities but to use Kadayawan as an opportunity to “continue to learn about one another and the uniqueness of each culture.”

Ulticon Supports Our Nation’s Students Through Brigada Eskwela

Ulticon Builders Incorporated under the leadership of Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez sponsored the La Filipina National High-School (Brigada Eskwela 2019). Ulticon has over two decades of experience in the construction business, primarily for the purpose of rehabilitation, constructing, developing, repairing roads, highways, bridges, piers and irrigation projects. In addition, Ulticon supports the protection of the welfare of our Filipino people in connecting and nation-building.

However, the real question is, what is the importance of our Filipino youth in nation-building? The important role of our Filipino youth in building our nation is simply to renew, refresh and maintain. Meaning, to renew and refresh the current status of our society and contribute new ideas which include in the field of modern innovations, people skills and leadership for the betterment of our nation.

For that reason, Ulticon doesn’t stop only in building roads that create access for schools, markets, and rural areas. We must also support where our children mold or hone their academic and physical education. On May 16, 2019, during the month of Brigada Eskwela with the initiative of the Department of Education, our company contributed a small facility to build for the La Filipina National High School scholars.

The real purpose of the Brigada Eskwela is to gather together all education stakeholders to contribute and combine their effort, time, and resources to be ready for the use of public school facilities and maintenance for the opening and the whole school year. “Matatag na Bayan para sa Maunlad na Paaralan” is the theme for this year’s Brigada Eskwela which simply means “In solidarity of nation generates standard quality schools”.

In Brigada Eskwela (Working together towards quality education) we unveil one of the many admirable qualities of a patriotic Filipino which is the “Bayanihan Spirit” which shows the concept of Filipinos’ working and helping one another most especially in times of need without expecting anything in return. It is mutual cooperation for the good of the public.

Ulticon feels fulfilled and grateful to extend our assistance in every advocacy of advancement of our government for our Filipino people most especially the youth. We firmly believe in strengthening our foundation through education because is one of the most effective ways of tackling poverty in the country.

UBI Supports The Perennial Kadayawan Legal Drag Racing Sports Championship Of Davao City

Ulticon Builders Incorporated which is spearheaded by Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez of Davao City, Philippines has always made it his mission to support the goals of awareness of our local government and various organizations to continuously uplift or inspire the lives of our people. This beautifully ties into his work principles of being flexible, persistent, team player and dedication.  That is why he was so happy to support the August Race which had close to a hundred participants in the said car racing event.

The car race took place at the Speed City of the Davao Crocodile Park grounds in the second week of August 17-18, 2019. Every car race team on that event had watchful eyes on the title and prizes at stake. The grounds were filled with eager car enthusiasts coming from all over Mindanao to cheer on their favorites. It was such a chromatic accelerating scene indeed of metal to metal and of uttering revving sound of gearing RPMs and roaring horsepower engines.

The need for speed of the Dabawenyos was hosted by the Davao Classic and Sports Car Club Incorporated, presented by Total Lubricants and Pirelli Tires. The overall winners received cash prizes, trophies and race items from major sponsors like our very own Ulticon Builders Incorporated. Moreover, more than a hundred more sponsors coming from different private individuals and public sectors supported the event.

Gary Dumbrique of Team Classic was the top-heavy contender of the race and once again emerged as the Quick 8 champion, clocking at 6.368 seconds on the 250-meter track to crown himself as this year’s back to back champions since 2018. He was awarded the fastest entry and received the Sonny Gonzalez Cup trophy and a cash prize.

Ulticon Builders Incorporated believes that whatever endeavor you’re into nothing is impossible to attain.  Don’t be afraid in crossing that finish line because as long as you have the value of consistency, hard work, teamwork, persistence, and commitment in what you do, they will be the keys to achieving your goals.

Ulticon Builders Brings Smiles to the Youth

Ulticon Builders Inc., headed by Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, politely appreciates being part once again of this milestone medical mission with the same direction of Operation Smile Philippines Foundation, Inc. amongst other sponsors. The medical mission was held on April 29 to May 04, 2018 at the Brokenshire Hospital in Davao City. It was a great privilege for Ulticon to extend assistance the second time around to conduct the reconstruction surgery program for our cleft lip and cleft palate Davao children.

The forty-eight man surgical team was made-up of plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, pediatricians, dentists and supporting personnel. Gathering resources together in raising the funds needed for the operation was made possible through the partnership of Operation Smile, Ulticon Builders Inc., UCPB and Phoenix Petroleum.

This second medical mission aimed to help 120 children and young adults with cleft lip and cleft palate disabilities. Roberto Manzano, the country director of Development for Operation Smile – Philippines said, “The treatment of cleft lips and palates makes a difference in terms of acceptance in the community. Oral cleft conditions impact the life of the people, especially children because of self-esteem issues and other negative outcomes such as bullying. These, lead others to dropout of school and grow into adulthood uneducated. It has been a challenge to Operation Smile to give the poor access to safe surgery and provide treatment to each new case.”

On that note, Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez firmly believes that in order to be able to achieve greater things we must simply do a series of small things first. In our small way of providing a helping hand and showing that we care for our children, especially those in need, gives them a fighting chance of having a better future and success in life.  And in return they will have the natural sense of paying it forward.  We have to sow love in order to teach them how to give love.  We may think that children are too young to remember but no one will ever forget if you have truly touched their hearts.

Ulticon Builders Delivers as Promised

Ulticon Builders Incorporated with the humble founder Mr. Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez truly became a part of an exciting competitive clash between UP and UST women’s football teams. We are honored that we’ve supported these young athletes at the very beginning of the league as they positively grew gradually. Witnessing them having great values and good sportsmanship at a very young age makes us proud. In the football scene, coaches would normally say to motivate their players, “Practice your basic skills first. Every day is a chance for you to get better. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when you’re done.”

No one can oppose the phrase “Practice makes perfect” because of the fact that it is utterly true. It simply means, if you practice your skills religiously, eventually you will be able to do it perfectly and consistently. On January 15, 2019, during the title match of the 4th Pinay in Action (PIA) took place at the Cup at Tionko field.  It was sponsored by Ulticon Builders, Inc. (UBI) and supported by SunStar Davao.  The event was presented by PIA founder Taguig City Representative Pia Cayetano.

Indeed, UP’s team and player Cassandra Alleje showed their relentless determination to win. A series of precarious possessions back and forth resulted in both squads to tighten their defenses. Until Alleje determined the match in favor of UPWFT-X with her free-kick. Alleje, who was crowned the best defender and most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament, said during the interview, “Normally yan yung lagi kong pinapraktis yung free kick. Ilang beses kong pinaprapaktis and I hoped lang talaga na pumasok yun kasi minsan (sa practice) hindi sya pumapasok. Nagpray ako na pumasok, nung pumasok medyo nagulat ako pero masaya ako (laughs).”

Cassandra Alleje as the team captain led her team to victory. As her FB fan page quote says “Your attitude determines your altitude” clearly, it is not only a mere catchy phrase for her. Rather, it reflected through her character the true meaning of the phrase, which is positivity. Ulticon trusts that in focusing on your discipline and positivity nothing is impossible to attain. Nothing is more satisfying than being around people who have faith and thus emit the energy of positivity and endless possibilities. These are the characteristics of the people who are needed in our lives and nation to make us great.
