Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to strengthen its workplace health programs with the recent fogging activity conducted across its project sites in Davao City. With the theme “Start Mosquito Control Today, Keep Dengue Out!”, the initiative was organized to help prevent the spread of dengue and to provide employees with a safer, cleaner work environment.
This effort supports the National Dengue Prevention and Control Program, which promotes early detection, proper case management, and proactive environmental measures. As a company rooted in responsibility and care, Ulticon recognizes its role in protecting not only its team but also the communities around its project sites—a commitment guided by Presidentand Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez.
The fogging covered the UBI Central Office at Don Julian Compound, Maa, and the Davao City Bypass Road Project 1-1 and 1-3 site offices in Km. 9, Tigatto, Buhangin. These areas were selected due to their exposure to frequent rainfall and potential for stagnant water, which are known breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
The operation was carried out in coordination with the Tropical Disease Prevention and Control Unit of the Davao City Health Office, led by Mr. Patrick Gwynn R. Babante and a team of six trained personnel.
The activity was divided into two phases:
● Site inspection was conducted on June 6, 2024, to evaluate conditions and determine chemical requirements.
● Fogging proper took place on June 28, 2024, starting at 5:00 AM at the site offices and 4:00 PM at the main office.
A courtesy notification to Central 911 was made as part of safety protocol. The fogging process used a thermal spray method, applying a combination of diesel and deltacide to eliminate mosquito vectors both indoors and outdoors.
The process was designed to minimize chemical exposure. By starting before regular working hours, employees could safely return to their offices by 10:00 AM. The mist used disperses quickly, targets mosquito habitats, and significantly reduces the risk of dengue transmission within 24 hours.
This technique allows for efficient coverage of both large and confined spaces, making it ideal for construction offices and facilities.
The initiative also served as a reminder that mosquito control begins with proper housekeeping. Employees were encouraged to stay vigilant by:
● Disposing of water-holding containers
● Keeping surroundings clean
● Reporting areas with potential breeding risks
● Supporting regular inspections
This proactive approach supports ongoing health initiatives at Ulticon, which aim to build a culture of wellness, awareness, and shared responsibility.
