Ulticon Builders, Inc. (UBI), construction industry leader headed by Carlos Gonzalez, assisted the 78 Headquarters Alpha (Archer) Company 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion, 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division in monitoring and combat operations in the Bukidnon hinterlands on 16 June 2020. The Philippine Army mounted the operations to help protect people from insurgency and suppress armed threats. In support, to facilitate ease of transportation, UBI donated 60 liters of diesel for use in vehicles to carry army troops and materials around Barangay Can-ayan, Malaybalay, Bukidnon. CPL Lemuel N Tanan and Commanding Officer 1Lt Vhon Rotsen R. Cruzado worked with UBI managers in Barangay Sugod, Valencia City for this latest collaboration between UBI and the Philippine Army.
The Dependable Battalion is tasked to pursue the government goals of securing peace and order while fighting communist terrorism in Malaybalay City. Guided by Executive Order 70 – which calls for a whole-of-nation approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) – the Dependable Battalion’s own localized approach has evolved. They have been teaming up with different government agencies and private organizations to provide holistic solutions to the insurgency issue. The battalion helps ex-rebels by giving them opportunities for rehabilitation and access to livelihood and housing. At the same time, the battalion values the role of citizens in the approach and calls on them to provide information about the location of any trace of insurgency in the area. Citizens can be assured that their safety will be protected as they fulfill their duty for the country.
UBI is no stranger to regions with challenging peace and order conditions and where threats from insurgency groups abound. Yet, UBI is a company that has been resolute in pursuing its mission to build roads, bridges, and other infrastructure that open and connect communities to opportunities for development. The company will continue its partnership with the various branches of the Philippine Army to protect communities from harm as they navigate their way to progress amid precarious socio-political landscapes.
