The 14th Acosta Cup Open ladies football tournament semi-finals which kicked off on November 17, 2017 at the Tionko field was shared to sports enthusiasts and the Davao Sportswriters Association forum on November 16, 2017 by Luna Acosta, daughter of Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta, at the SM City Annex building. Ulticon Builders Incorporated (UBI), ran and headed by Mr. Charlie Gonzalez, is one of the supporters or sponsors of this exciting sports event in Davao City.
This tournament aims to provide female players an opportunity to compete and showcase sportsmanship between teams, as well as to promote the sport locally. The remaining teams competing for the semi-finals were D’ Davao Survivors against Philippine College of Technology, and Soya against Sikat Alab.
On November 19, 2017 Philippine College of Technology (PCT) emerged as the winner with a score of 3-0 in a championship match against Soya. PCT’s coach Alvin Troyo said that if not for the team’s intense training, determination, and hard work they would not have won the championship title.
Ulticon Builders Incorporated believes that hard work and determination are good values to impart the youth as is the heart of the annual Acosta Cup Open ladies football tournament, and the coaches, schools, and teams who are involved in it.
Ulticon Builders Incorporated (UBI) thanks the organizers of the Acosta Cup for its continued support to our young local lady football players. UBI aims to continue to use its resources to partner with organizers who run events like the Acosta Cup to help the youth develop confidence, skills, and the right values to aid them to become better individuals not just for their own good but for the good of others.
