Ulticon Advances Health Advocacy Through Flu Vaccination

Ulticon Builders Inc. continues to lead by example in promoting employee wellness through accessible, preventive care. As part of its ongoing commitment to health and safety, the company conducted a flu vaccination activity on January 17, 2025, at the Main Clinic in Maa, Davao City, benefiting 100 office-based employees.

The activity forms part of the company’s broader advocacy to build a resilient and empowered workforce—an advocacy championed by President and Chairman Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, who has long emphasized that true nation-building begins with compassion and care for people.

This initiative is one of many rolled out under UBI’s health and wellness efforts, aiming to minimize health-related risks in the workplace, especially during flu season.

Health and Safety That Begins Within

The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department identified 81 high-priority employees, including senior team members and individuals with existing health conditions, in response to Memo No. 001, Series of 2025, issued on January 16, 2025. These employees were highly encouraged to receive the flu vaccine.

Due to limited vaccine supply, the program accommodated 100 randomly selected office-based employees, with the goal of reaching those who needed it most while ensuring broad access to protection.

The vaccination process began at 8:00 AM and was carried out smoothly and systematically by the clinic’s medical team.

A Responsible and Caring Approach

Upon arrival, participants signed an attendance sheet and proceeded to pre-vaccination
screening, which included:

● Blood pressure and vital sign checks
● Review of immunization history
● Health status assessment
● Identification of potential contraindications

Only those who passed the screening were cleared for vaccination. Nurses advised participants to receive the flu shot in their non-dominant arm, minimizing post-vaccine discomfort while allowing them to resume work with ease.

Head Nurse Lani Mae A. Astudillo reminded employees of common side effects, such as mild soreness or muscle aches at the injection site, and advised avoiding strenuous activities involving the arm for the next 24 hours.

Strengthening the Workforce Through Preventive Care

The success of the vaccination drive speaks to Ulticon’s long-term vision of workplace wellness—not only as a compliance matter but as an expression of care, responsibility, and corporate leadership. Through its internal UBI Health initiatives, the company fosters a culture where preventive care is prioritized and health is everyone’s responsibility.

Employees who joined the activity shared positive feedback about the process and appreciated the company’s effort to bring health services directly to them—without the barriers of cost, time, or access.

Such efforts are especially relevant for employees with demanding schedules, where time away from work for health appointments is not always feasible. By providing onsite vaccination, Ulticon ensures that health protection is integrated into the daily rhythm of work.

Driven by a Deeper Purpose

For Ulticon, programs like this are more than annual activities—they reflect the company’s deeper purpose: to build communities, not just projects. Under the guidance of Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez, Ulticon has consistently invested in people-first initiatives across all areas of the business—from infrastructure and safety to education and public health.

These initiatives show that the company’s strength lies not only in its technical capabilities but also in its compassion.

Through UBI Health campaigns, Ulticon continues to take concrete steps toward creating a healthier, safer workplace where employees feel supported in all aspects of their well-being.

Looking Forward

The flu vaccination activity is one of many efforts planned for the year as part of Ulticon’s proactive health strategy. As the company continues to expand across Regions X, XI, and XII, it remains grounded in the belief that the health of its workforce is a key foundation for success.

By leading with care and investing in wellness, Ulticon Builders Inc. shows that progress is not only measured in kilometers built but also in lives protected.
